2009 Scholarship Recipients
|
|
The San Diego Chapter of AEP would like to congratulate the 2009 scholarship recipients, Heather Harris and Kimberly Bush.
Heather Harris, SDSU Masters in Geographic Information Science
Heather Harris graduated summa cum laude from SDSU with a bachelor’s degree in Geography and an emphasis in Natural Resources and Environmental Analysis. Heather served as President of the SDSU student chapter of AEP. This fall, heather will be attending graduate school at SDSU where she will be pursuing a MS in Geographic Information Science. Heather will be selecting either a native species or an invasive species at Torrey Pines State Park to study for her thesis. She will use GIS techniques such as suitability analysis to assess areas that species are more likely to exist for the purposes of expanding the populations of rare species or, with an invasive species, to learn where it is most likely going to spread or what additional habitats it may affect.
Kimberly Bush, SDSU Masters in City Planning
Kimberly Bush graduated from University of California, Berkeley in 2004 with a BA in Political Science and a minor in Political Economy of Industrial Societies in European Studies with an emphasis in International Business. Once Kimberly moved to San Diego, she started an internship with the Centre City Development Corporation (CCDC) and continued her education at SDSU. At CCDC, she was able to help implement projects for a more sustainable downtown, including an arts and culture interactive map and tree canopy of downtown. Kimberly also volunteered with the Greater Golden Hill Community development Corporation. Currently, Kimberly is finishing her last year of graduate school at SDSU, including a thesis on preemptive ecosystem planning. She will graduate in 2010 with a Masters in City Planning.
