The wonderful Icon was painted in the late 18th/early 19th century in Russia. Egg tempera, gesso on wood panel. Tooled parcel gild silver oklad cover. The silver is Hallmarked with 84, 1884 and the St Petersburg Town Mark and assayer's mark A.T.
