The artist Odette des Garets also know as Odette DesGarets was born in Paris France in 1891. In her early years she was revered by many as a strong influence of modern painting in France. It was unusual for most women in these years to have such impact on the modern art movement. By the early 1920's she became part of the artist community of thirty artist at "65 Boulevard Argo" in Paris. She was brought in by the artist and friend Marcel Mouillot. Other artist residing at 65 Boulevard Argo included Paul Gauguin, Amedeo Modigliani, Henri Cadiou and Louis Bouquet. In her career she exhibited at the famous Galerie B. Weill. Berthe Weill was a French art dealer who played a vital role in the creation of the market for twentieth century art with the manifestation of the Parisian Avant-Garde. Weill was credited with producing the first sales in Paris for Pablo Picasso and Henri Mattisse.

Other Odette des Garets exhibitions included Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts, and Musée des Beaux-Arts. Lyon. Without question her influence was vital in her years. She is listed in dozens of books, and credited in many Art Articals throughout the 20th Century. She is represented in Musée des Beaux-Arts de Lyon. As with so many important women artist of the day she has fallen off into obscurity. The date and details of her death are unknown. Any whereabouts of her collection or work is still a mystery.
