A landscape painter of rural scenes, Emile Lambinet painted extensively in his native France and also traveled throughout other countries in Europe and in the Middle East.

He studied with Antoine-Felix Boisselier, Michel-Martin Drolling, Jean-Baptiste Corot and Horace Vernet. Beginning 1833, he was also an active exhibitor at the Paris Salon.

His work became popular in the United States, where James Suydam was much influenced by him and collected several of his paintings.

The Musee Lambinet in Versailles, France, the artist's birthplace, is the primary repository of his paintings.
