Born 1914 in New York City, Edith Montlack was awarded a scholarship to the Metropolitan Art School and continued her studies at the National Academy in NY under Louis Bouche in addition to taking private studies in the US and abroad.

Her paintings have won many prizes, including the Emil Kohn Medal, the St. Gauden's Medal and the Grumbacher Award. Miss Montlack also won the National Association of Women Artists' prize for watercolors at that organization's 50th anniversary exhibition. She was elected a Life-Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts of London, an international society of men and women distinguished in the arts.

Miss Montlack has exhibited at the National Academy, Parrish Museum, Riverside Museum, Grand Central Gallery, New York Art Club, Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club, Hall of Art, Norval Gallery, Crespi Gallery, The Hammond Museum, Pen and Pencil Club Chicago, Knickerbocker Artists Club and Studio Guild on Fifth Ave.


In addition, many other private exhibitions around the world. Reproductions of her work, as well as originals are to be found in all parts of the USA and Europe in numerous private collections and in the photographic file of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Her prize-winning paintings have been published and reproduced by Catalda Fine Arts Publishing Company of NY and Donald Art Company, Inc., the leading reproducers of paintings in this country.
Miss. Montlack was often invited to act as a juror in various art competitions. Edith Montlack was also an accomplished concert pianist, and played concerts around the world.
