Stefa Brillouin was born Stephanie Prusak in Lodlz Poland, where her father Maurice Prusak was a prosperous owner of a textile mill. Later moving to France she studied art.

On Dec.5 1912 she married Léon Nicolas Brillouin in Paris. Léon Nicolas Brillouin was a French physicist. He made contributions to quantum mechanics, radio wave propagation in the atmosphere, solid state physics, and information theory.


Later they moved to the United States. She exhibited in many important galleries including Monique de Groote Galerie d'Art, Canada (1956), Georgette Passedoit Gallery, NY. NY. (1956), and in a catalogue of her works published by The American British Art Center (1944).

Her work is cataloged in The Metropolitan Museum in New York City, the Brooklyn Museum of Art and The Frick Reference Library in New York City. Avid collectors of Art she and her husbands collection of drawings by Amedeo Clemente Modigliani was published in a famous book titled Modigliani: Drawings from the Collection of Stefa Leon Brillouin.

She died in 1966.
