The Pont Neuf is the oldest standing bridge across the river Seine in Paris, France. It stands by the western point of the Île de la Cité, the island in the middle of the river that was, between 250 and 225 BC, the birthplace of Paris, then known as Lutetia and, during the medieval period, the heart of the city.

Charles Blondin was a French impressionist painter and print maker known for his depictions of Paris during different seasons. Born in 1913 in France his most active period dates from c. 1928 to the 1950s.

The Paris Etching Society and the Camilla Lucas Gallery published a colorful series of color etchings by Blondin of iconic views of Paris. His birth name is unknown as he took the name of Charles Blondin the famous tight rope walker from the 19th century.
