Pair of 19th C. Edme Samson Bocage Figurines After Chelsea/Bow

Description

A delightful pair of late 19th century Chelsea/Derby Style porcelain Bocage decorated Shephard and Shepherdess figures likely made by the Paris firm of Edme Samson. In the style of 18th century Chelsea with a spurious gold anchor mark. The figures are mounted on scrolled bases, beautifully hand painted in strong earthy colors.

The both stand 10" Tall

Shepherdess 6.75 Wide


Edmé Samson (1830–1913). The firm either drew inspiration from other factories, or directly copied their pieces. Designs from the factories of Meissen, Sèvres, Chelsea, and Derby were among the reproductions Samson, Edmé et Cie produced, along with designs copied from and all the major factories of England, France and Germany.
