RARE MEISSEN PORCELAIN FIGURE OF A GENTLEMAN AT A DESK

Description

Originally Modelled by J.J. Kändler in 1740's, this circa 1795- 1810. Meissen figurine of a Gentleman at a desk is wearing a gilt-edged blue frock coat, seated on a rock and writing a letter, the page inscribed with what looks to be a love letter. The table with cabriole legs enriched with gilding, the marble top with writing equipment, a watch and a gold box, above a shaped rectangular mound base. The gold detail on the base is little lines, that I have seen on some early 18th century pieces. On the bottom it has the under glazed crossed sword mark. along with No 179, and the side of the base it has initials "HA" It measures 5.5 inches long by 5 inches tall and 3.75 inches wide.
