PURPOSE:
|
|
|
- To identify and refer all chemically dependent Department of Social Services (DSS) customers who are applying for or are currently receiving Child Welfare services;
- To motivate identified applicants to participate in treatment;
- To insure each applicant's initial treatment participation at each designated treatment.
|
|
|
|
|
The Units are co-located within the Child Welfare Offices at each Department of Social Services District Office:
|
|
|
- Yonkers - at 173 Warburton Avenue
- Peekskill - at 750 Washington Avenue
- White Plains - at 85 Court Street
|
|
|
AVERAGE MONTHLY ACTIVITY:
|
|
|
- We receive 81 referrals from Child Protective Services (CPS), Preventive Services (PS), Foster Care Services or Adult Protective
- We complete 58 assessments
- We place 18 individual clients in treatment and make 21 placements
|
|
|
|
|
|
A Director, Certified Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselors (CASACs), and an Administrative Assistant.
|
|
SERVICES:
|
|
|
- On-site or in-home comprehensive chemical assessments;
- Motivational counseling to engage customers for treatment placement;
- Follow-up referral, placement and if necessary accompaniment to appropriate treatment setting;
- Chemical dependency training for DSS child welfare staff.
