Introduction
The EZ-NetTools Shipping options were recently improved. Changes were made to improve the functionality of the existing system as well as adding new features to further enhance the utility. In this article, we will briefly introduce the new shipping options. For full information about the functionality of these options, please visit the EZ-Shipping support page.
Overview of EZ-Shipping
The EZ-Shipping configurations allow you to set up shipping and handling rules for your online orders. These rules range from very easy to highly customizable. To access EZ-Shipping, login to your Ez-NetTools member account, click the "Construction Tools" tab, then select "EZ-Shipping." You will see two sections from the main page of EZ-Shipping. "Shipping Configuration" is where all of your shipping and handling rules are set up. "Ship-to Countries" is where you can select which countries you will ship to. Let's take a closer look at the "Shipping Configuration" section.
Shipping Configuration
There are a few basic options on the main configuration screen. You can specify a minimum and maximum amount you will charge for shipping, as well as an order total that qualifies for free shipping. You can also set up a handling fee and maximum weight for each box. Finally, make a selection for which type of shipping calculation you would like to use. Your options are No Charge (shipping charges will not be added to orders), Basic, Advanced, and UPS Calculator.
Basic
The basic configuration allows you to choose from a list of simple calculation methods, of which you can choose only one. However, you also have the ability to add add-ons, of which you can choose multiple additional shipping options. The calculation methods include the following: flat rate, percent of order subtotal, coded amount per item, amount per item (based on quantity), amount per weight of the order, single-method sliding scale (which you can set up thresholds based on the subtotal, weight, or quantity of the order). The add-ons include the following: second day, next day, cod, international, and several user-defined options.
Advanced
The advanced configuration is a multi-method sliding scale that is similar to the single-method sliding scale in the basic configuration. This method also allows you to set up thresholds based on the subtotal, weight, or quantity of the order. The difference is that you have the ability to create multiple threshold tables for different shipping methods, such as standard or overnight.
UPS Calculator
The UPS Calculator configuration allows you to calculate shipping costs using the same method that is used by UPS to calculate their shipping costs. This method is based on the weight of the shipment and the location that you are shipping from and to. You can select any of the UPS shipping methods that you would like to offer.
Conclusion
Whether you need a simple or a more complex setup, the new EZ-Shipping system was designed to meet all these needs with its many added features. One thing to remember as you experiment with these new options is when you select a different configuration, all other previous configurations are disabled and their values are deleted. If you have a configuration that you'd like to keep, but want to try other options temporarily, make sure you backup your files using the Backup Files utility before you make your changes.
