Introduction

We are pleased to announce the launch of EZ-Net University. EZ-Net U is the third leg of the training resources available of users of EZ-NetTools. The other two resources are the Technical Support Help text and this online magazine, EZ-NetAdvantage. Each resource serves a specific training need, with some overlap in the topics. Below, we will discuss the purposes of each training resource.

Note: Each of these training resources is built using an EZ-NetTools member account, just like yours. In other wards, we use our own tools.

Technical Support Help Text

The Technical Support Help Text web site is tightly coupled with the EZ-NetTools. Whenever you click on help or the “?” when using the tools, you will be taken to a page of help text associated with that page. These pages explain how that particular tool works and explains each option that is available. This is a very comprehensive and complete training resource. In concept, every page you use in EZ-NetTools should have an associated help text.

This training resource differs from the other two because it is limited to the tools themselves and describes each tool and what the options mean. An analogy to a hand tool, a hammer, might be helpful. The help text describes a hammer, that it has a handle, a pounding end and a claw end. We would not go into depth about uses for a hammer.

One key element of this site is the Updates page. There is a global link on every page to this page. On this page we keep a running list of all the major updates and notices affecting EZ-NetTools. We also provide some information about the upgrades that we are currently working on.

EZ-NetAdvantage

The EZ-NetAdvantage serves a variety of purposes. First, it is a news organ where we can announce new happenings. We will also highlight selected tools and how to use them better. The online magazine is not intended to be comprehensive in scope. It is driven more by current events and interest.

This training resource differs from the other two. Continuing our hand tool analogy, in the EZ-NetAdvantage, we would announce changes to a hammer or that we a have a new hammer. In the EZ-NetAdvantage we might describe how you could use the hammer to build a bird house. We might also tell you how you could use and purchase a nifty holder for your hammer even though it is not provided by EZ-Nettools. However, there will not likely be an article about every aspect of EZ-NetTools.

EZ-Net University

The EZ-NetU web site might be compared to the best of the EZ-NetAdvantage “how to articles.” In this resource you will find tutorials about how to accomplish the various tasks required to create, maintain, and promote a successful website. For example the very first tutorial explains how to prepare photographs for your web site. While technically not part of EZ-NetTools, the ability to prepare photos for the web is a critical skill. Much of the background for the tutorials will come from past EZ-NetAdvantage articles. Yet, in this training resource we might go into more depth about a topic. Our goal is to make the training more comprehensive than might be found in our online magazine. It should also be easier to locate training on the topic you want since we will organize the materials by topic not by issue.

To complete our hand tool analogy, the university will have a number of courses about how to manage your web site. The courses will not focus on the hammer but explain that it can be used along with other tools to complete a project. In these courses, we will not describe the hammer nor explain its options. That is the purpose of the Help site.

Today, EZ-NetU only has one tutorial, albeit, a very key one. As time passes we hope to make it a comprehensive resource, covering all aspects of managing a successful web site. Towards this end, be sure to write and tell us tutorials you would like.
