New Features on AMCAP.net, April 3, 2008

Publications
The Publications page, always the most-frequently-accessed section of AMCAP.net has now grown into a "Publications Suite." Improvements include:

- Journal: All 30+ years of AMCAP's Journals are either uploaded to a searchable archive online, or have been scanned and prepared for inclusion in the archive within the next few weeks. Also, a secondary "Journal" page has been linked to the Publications page, featuring the newest Call for Submissions and other newly-updated information about the Journal.

- Networker: The Networker Archive, 2000-2008, has been moved to a specific "Networker" page, along with the Networker Call for Submissions and other recent information. The Networker Archive can be accessed from each page in the Publications Suite, and the most current issue of the Networker is featured prominently on the main Publications page.

- Website: - Recently identified as a third unique publication for AMCAP, the website is now also calling for submissions from members (including photos and short videos, as well as posts and documents), and is becoming a repository for AMCAP's published works, old and new. A new "Website" page was created, including a Call for Submissions, and a new "Classic Articles and Talks" section, (also accessible throughout the Publications Suite under "Classics".)

Conventions
The second-most-frequently accessed area of the site, this page has retained all its great features (online registration and information for conventions), and now also features a new, more complete Catalog of Recordings for convention talks.

Conventions are now listed by theme, rather than just by date; and a full outline of convention themes and talks since 1990 is now provided to facilitate talk review and ordering. (Note: Ordering talk recordings will soon be an exclusive benefit for Members Only.)

Area Network
This is a new section of the site, created to facilitate the Area Coordinators Network, and to inform members all over the world of local contacts in their area. Area pages are being developed to provide contact information and update AMCAP members of events and developments in the areas.

A link to an AC-specific section of the Member Forum has also been provided, to facilitate dialogue and mutual support among AMCAP area leaders. If there's not an Area Coordinator where you live, look for information here to tell you how to become one.

Member Forum
This rich interactive resource, an exclusive benefit for AMCAP members, has a new introductory page, with other expansions and improvements currently underway. It can be a great facilitator of dialogue, mutual support, and the sharing of ideas among AMCAP's worldwide coalition of LDS mental health professionals.

Members Only
This members-only, password-protected section of the site includes access to the Member Forum and the Convention Recording Catalog. It has recently been updated to include the newest (2007) version of the AMCAP Bylaws, as well as a new Leadership Directory, and a continuously updated Membership Directory. Other resources relevant to members, such as voting and election information, will be provided as needed.

About AMCAP
This section has been updated to reflect recent changes in AMCAP's Bylaws and in its leadership. AMCAP's four-dimensional mission statement is now visually illustrated here, and all the content has been provided with headings and hyperlinks to make access more user-friendly and efficient.

Join / Renew AMCAP
Likewise, this information has been fully updated to reflect recent changes in AMCAP's Bylaws and other developments. A copy of the newly rewritten Bylaws is available here, in the Join/Renew AMCAP form.

What's New
This page will keep you up to date on changes, improvements, and new features and resources being continuously added to the site.

Find a Counselor
This section, gateway into "LDS Counselors.Net", has been provided with a newly-crafted disclaimer, prepared with legal counsel to more effectively represent AMCAP's interests and boundaries.

Other General Improvements to the Site:
- Page Expansion All of the pages in the site have been expanded to fit the full width of the larger computer screens that typically occupy today's homes and offices.

- Background Color The site was given a warm background color to soften its appearance and increase its general visual appeal. The color was made uniform between AMCAP.net and LDSCounselors.net, to re-emphasize the connection between the two sites.

- New Website Committee A new committee chair, Carrie Maxwell Wrigley, LCSW, was selected and assigned by the AMCAP Board; and a broad-based committee was consulted in the creation of this upgraded site. Many AMCAP leaders, Board members, technical consultants, Editorial Board members, and student advisors have played a significant role in identifying and facilitating the numerous improvements to this site in recent weeks.

- Collaborative Emphasis The dreams, brainstorms, suggestions, and feedback of many have resulted in AMCAP's newly upgraded site. Its continued success and development will depend upon the broad-based support of its members worldwide. Visit often, contribute your ideas, and enjoy! "This is your website!"
