I Do! I Do! Begins February 8th at Lakeland: Special Valentine’s Day Performance Set at The Centre on February 14th
If you’re married, if you’re getting married, if you’ve been married – or you know somebody who’s married – you’ve just got to see this two-person musical about marriage, I Do! I Do! The show follows a married couple from their wedding day through 50 years, and stars real-life married couple Gary and Denise Hackenburg as Michael and Agnes. From the thrill of their wedding day through a marriage’s ups and downs, this incredible couple will make you laugh, cry, and identify with them, making a wonderful evening of theatre.
Written by the Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt, the creators of the legendary show The Fantasticks and many other Broadway hits, I Do! I Do! is presented by special arrangement with Music Theatre International, Inc, New York, New York. The production is directed by Wally Hurst, with musical direction by Dwight Berry.
Shows on Friday, February 8, and Saturday, February 9 begin at 8:00 PM at Lakeland Theatre Company, 411 Mosby Avenue in Littleton. The shows on Thursday, February 14 also will begin at 8:00 at The Centre at Halifax Community College. The Sunday, February 10th performance at Lakeland will begin at 2:30 PM. Tickets for performances at Lakeland are only $15.00 for adults and $8.00 for children and students. Discounts are available for members of Lakeland and groups of 15 or more adults.
A complete Valentine’s Day package is available for the February 14th show at The Centre, including dinner, flowers, chocolate, a singing telegram, and champagne: please inquire at Lakeland or The Centre for complete information. Auditions for Steel Magnolias Set For January 13 and 14 at Lakeland Theatre Company
Auditions for the April presentation of the comedy play Steel Magnolias will be held at Lakeland Theatre Company on Sunday, January 13 at 3:00 PM, and on Monday, January 14 at 7:00 PM. Director Susan King will cast all roles at this audition. Steel Magnolias opens on April 11th and will run through April 25. Rehearsals will begin on or about February 4th.
All roles are available. There are 6 total roles in the show: two young adult females (Annelle and Shelby), two middle-aged adult females (Truvy and M’Lynn, and two older females (Ouiser and Clairee). Unlike the movie, there are no roles for men at all. Please note that we are also looking for stage managers, backstage helpers, and technical workers. Training is available!
Auditions will consist of reading from the script. Scripts are available for checkout from Lakeland now(deposit required), and persons not able to make the Sunday or Monday audition date must call prior to auditions to schedule an alternate date. The Lake Gaston Association,
a non-profit organization of property owners on Lake Gaston, actively advocates and promotes the interests of the families who own property on the lake. The Association was organized in 1988 for the purpose of maintaining and enhancing the quality of recreational and residential enjoyment on Lake Gaston.
Twenty-five volunteer directors, five from each of the counties bordering the lake, meet monthly to discuss issues affecting lake property owners. The monthly meetings are held at 9:30 AM at the Lake Gaston Baptist Church, north of Eaton Ferry Bridge on Highway 903, and are open to the public.
The Annual Meeting of the Association is scheduled for the second Saturday in June. Directors are elected and members are provided with the opportunity to participate in an open forum on issues of concern to residents of the Lake Gaston area.
Annual membership dues of $10.00 per family cover operating expenses and the quarterly newsletter. Call Boyd Strain (252 257-2881) for information on joining the LGA.
