WAYS TO USE CHIPBOARD
Have you been wanting to try chipboard but are not sure how? Well, I’m here to tell you it is so fun, and easy! Here are a few simple steps to help you get started.
1. Start with a “naked” chipboard die cut piece.
2. Using a glue stick, cover the board with glue. Make sure that the chipboard surface is free from debris, before applying the glue.
3. Take a piece of acid free paper and cover the glued side of the die cut. Work out any air bubbles, starting from the center of the chipboard piece
and work your way to the outer edge. It is a good idea to let glue dry before going to the next step.
4. Using your scissors, cut close to the die cut shape.
5. With our “Big Brother” sanding stick, sand the edge of the paper and the die cut for a smooth edge. Our “Big Brother” sanding stick can be rotated around to use the whole belt for sanding. When the belt is fully used, we have replacement belts. NOTE: When sanding the edges, be sure to sand away from the finished surface, as this could damage the show surface edges.
The “Little Sister” sanding stick is also available for using in harder to reach areas of the chipboard.
6. If you would like add shine to your chipboard, we suggest using a crystal lacquer. This may be placed on top of the chipboard and paper, and then let dry approx. 15-45 minutes.
Examples: In examples one and two we used the following:
- Ghost shaped / Pumpkin chipboard
- Glue stick (used to apply the paper)
- Any paper to add character to the shape
- Scissors to trim the edges of the chipboard.
- Big Brother / Little sister sanding sticks to sand the edges
- Crystal Lacquer to add shine

Another great way to use chipboard is by painting it. Yes, painting! We have a large selection of paints made by Making Memories that is safe for scrapbooks.
1. Start with a “naked” chipboard die cut piece.
3. Let dry.
Example: In example three we used the following:
- Bat shaped chipboard
- Paint
- Glitter
- Crystal Lacquer to add shine and keep the glitter from falling off

Another use for the “Big Brother” sanding stick is to sand off some of the paint for a distressed look on your chipboard. You may also use the crystal lacquer on top of the paint for a shiny look.
Examples: In examples four and five we used the following:
