Chase & Darel Visit
Sublette Ranch

In July, Darel & Chase came over to Montrose.
It was Chase's 1st visit to Sublette Ranch.
He is now 3 1/2 years old & FULL of energy!

Darel had Caterpillar meetings in Grand Junction
so Grandma & Grandpa got to play with Chase
while Daddy went to work. They arrived Sunday
and had to check things out.

The Sublette men checked out our
wind rows in the pasture. The hay
had just been cut and was waiting
to be baled.

Chase arrived with his fishing pole in hand.
So, we got down to serious business next!
First, we had to catch grasshoppers for bait.
It seemed every time they put one more
grasshopper in the mashed potatoes can,
two jumped out!

Then we headed to
the pond for some
fishing lessons.

It didn't take long
before Chase caught
his 1st fish!

That called for a
chicken dance to
celebrate!

Lucy watched
as Daddy helped
Chase catch some
more fish.

Daddy taught Chase
how to carefully
release the fish.
Lucy kept a close eye
out for more fish!

While Lucy wondered
where everyone went,
Chase checked out the
hummingbird in the
garage.

Darel spotted 3 bucks in
the field across the road.
They were still in velvet.
He was able to take this
photo through Steve's
telescope!

Monday morning, Daddy had to leave at 5:30 am!
Chase came down to Grandma & Grandpa's big bed until it was late enough to get up.

After some oatmeal and cartoons,
Chase & Grandma danced to the Wiggle Network.

Here 3 swingers wait for Grandpa.

While Grandpa went to a doctor's appointment Chase helped Grandma vacuum bugs from the windows and make the beds in the guest house, then we went for a walk. We spotted elk tracks in the road and followed them.

When Grandpa got home we loaded on the ATV and
checked out the neighborhood.

We had fun watching this baler down the road make giant circle bales!

We made up new songs to sing.

"Hey there, there's a lot of hay there!"

"The hay in the baler goes round & round, round & round, round & round.
The hay in the baler goes round & round. Then falls out the back."

Then we checked out another
field and the giant rectangle
bales and John Deere tractor.

Back at the ranch,
Chase helped Grandma
make pudding for supper.

Chase also helped Grandma
pick peas & tomatoes in
Grandpa's garden.

Yum, were they ever
good to eat!

Chase even wanted peas on his grilled
cheese sandwich for lunch!

Then it was nap time! WHEW!

(Grandma & Grandpa napped too.)

Chase & Grandma played lots of games -
blocks, 'Memory' and 'Booby Trap'.

Then it was back to the pond for some more
fishing before supper. But while the guys
were fishing, the baler arrived to bale our
hay. The guys had to take time out to watch.

Chase took lots of photos.

Tuesday morning, Daddy only had to drive to Delta to meet guys at 8:30 am. (Not as early a morning!)
Darel asked us to meet him in Delta at 1:00 so he and Chase could drive back home.
That gave us only 1/2 a day to pack in some more fun!

Chase helped Grandpa
water flowers, then
he picked some more
peas & tomatoes to
take home to Mommy.

We all went to a friend's
ranch to try fishing for
trout in their big pond.

The trout weren't biting
so we went back to our
pond where the bluegill
were always biting!

Then it was time
to load up & drive
to Delta.

We enjoyed fine
dining at McDonalds
& played while we
waited for Daddy.

Thanks for coming over, Darel & Chase!
We REALLY enjoyed your visit.
Next time, bring Mommy & Jacob too.
