Fall Colors
October on Dallas Divide

October 1st, Barb & Lucy got up early to watch the sun rise on Dallas Divide (highway 62 west of Ridgway) while Steve was in Wyoming antelope hunting.

The trip was well-worth it! To the sound of bull elk bugling and a hawk calling overhead, we stood with 50 other photographers to witness the first rays of sun hit fresh snow and the early fall colors.

(The photo doesn't capture its true beauty!)

We then drove home via County Road 1 over Loghill Mesa and caught this view of Ridgway from Inspiration Point.

The next day, after Steve got home, we took neighbor, Dolly McGill, and drove back up Dallas Divide to tour Last Dollar Ranch. We were rewarded again with spectacular colors.

Historic Last Dollar Ranch has been the site of numerous Marlboro print
and TV ads over the years, as well as for popular catalogs and magazines.

The meadow and log fence behind Barb and Steve has been in many Marlboro ads.
