Lemas Visit Sublette Ranch
November 2008
Kendra, Raul, Soraya & Apollo flew to Colorado in November. They spent 4 days with us before driving over to Denver for Thanksgiving.
We loved our time with them. Soraya hadn't been here since she was 1 for Sean and Laurie's wedding. This was Apollo's first visit. Soraya is now 4 ½ years and Apollo is 23 months.

We had great fun going out searching for "reindeer". Every night we'd grab the big spot light and sneak outside to catch them in Grandpa's garden, the pasture or around the pond.
They loved going for adventures with Grandpa in the "tractor" and looking for animals. Not only did they see mule deer (Soraya called them "reindeer"), but also horses, a donkey, a mule, cows and sheep. Soraya learned to tell the boy reindeer from the girls by their "horns".

There were so many "reindeer" visiting Grandpa's yard at night that there was reindeer poop all over! Grandpa and Soraya spotted some and even collected it so she could take it home to Texas!

Apollo loves doggies.
Lucy didn't mind the attention!
We found Santa Claus in Ridgway, although Apollo wasn't too happy!
Since they were the only kids there, Soraya got to talk to Santa a LOT! She told him she saw his reindeer in Grandpa's yard and asked Santa why reindeer poop!

The Lema's dogs, Liberty & Justice, came to live "on the farm" with our friend, Joanne, in 2007. Joanne invited us to visit the dogs and see what their new country life was like. Soraya even got the help feed the horses their evening grain!
After feeding the horses, Joanne, Sean, Cathy, Liberty & Justice all came back to join us for a "taco - cupcake party".
Apollo showed Sean how well he can throw a footbal.

Apollo took a real liking to Sean!

We had fun cooking... mac-n-cheese, candy, cupcakes, pizza, blueberry muffins... YUM!

Kendra and Raul wanted to take us to lunch so we had an "outing" to Montrose.
First to the library where the kids found great puzzles & computer games, as well as toys and books. Apollo showed Grandma how fast he could figure out the puzzles.
Next we stopped at Murdoch's (the ranch supply store). Our little Texans found some Colorado cowboy hats and boots. Soraya is wearing her "reindeer horn" necklace Grandpa made for her.
After lunch, we visited the "Montrose Childrens Zoo" (otherwise known as Petco).
We were sorry to see the kids leave, but got to have fun with them again for Thanksgiving in Thornton along with their cousins, Chase and Jacob.
