Mary Jane & Don's Visit
August-September 2003
Don & Mary Jane Sublette, Steve's parents, came out from Illinois for a nice long visit the end of August and stayed past Labor Day.

We found a pear orchard that opened up to the public for you-pick. And we did!
We also took them to our favorite you-pick peach orchard. Boy are they tasty Elberta peaches!

On our way home from the orchard we stopped to watch this team pick & pack Olathe Sweet Corn with this large machine.
Then we came home and had a peach freezing/canning party!

Steve picked wild choke cherries the day before Don & Mary Jane arrived. We tried our hand at making jelly with the cherries.
For a change of pace (and to let Don & Mary Jane get out of the kitchen) we took them Jeepin'!
We stopped for a picnic at 11,200 feet above sea level. (As proven by our altimeter.)

Don & Mary Jane checked out the old Brooklyn Mine along the route.
