November brought warm afternoons and the 3rd & 4th hunting seasons.

~ 3rd SEASON - STEVE's DEER ~
Steve had a doe tag for the 3rd season so we started watching for deer in area 62, which is where our neighborhood is. One morning we returned from scouting to find this bunch right in front of our house!
The first afternoon hunt Steve watched several bucks. These two are fighting. Although the "buck show" was great, no does came out within range that evening. They were too far north.
The next day, Steve decided to set up a hay-bale blind to the north, closer to where we saw the does. Below, he & our friend, JoAnne, check out the hillside. Wouldn't you know it - they came out south of us too far to shoot! So, Steve had to stalk closer sneaking behind the tall grass.

JoAnne & Barb watched and waited for the shot. Just as the light was fading, Steve fired on a nice doe.

~ 4th SEASON - SEAN & JEFF's ELK ~
Sean & Jeff each drew cow elk tags for 4th season, area 61. They arrived Tuesday night, before opening day and headed out each morning before 4:30am.
Although they brought us no photos, they did have exciting stories to tell every night. They had many elk adventures - with cows, calves and bulls any where from 25 to 800 yards, but not a good shot until Friday night. Just around sunset, after stalking a herd of around 50 elk Sean was able to get a shot on this nice cow!

And so, the work began back home. WOW! Looks like great loin steaks & roasts!
The guys got some help from Marj & Laurie.
