Who is Chaplains for Christ International?


Chaplains for Christ International (CFCI) is a non-denominational, evangelical Christian 501(c)(3) non-profit prison ministry founded in 1994 with three primary ministry areas.


Chicago-Area Prison Ministry: Cook County Jail

BRINGING CHRIST TO PRISONERS WHERE THEY LIVEIN JAIL

Location: 26th Street & California Ave on the southwest side of Chicago

Administration: Cook County Department of Corrections (CCDOC)

Organization: 6 Divisions

Inmates/Detainees: 6,000 to 11,000

Total Countries: More than 35 countries

Prison Visits: Send teams to minister the Gospel inside prisons, help the poor and distribute Bibles to those who either cannot obtain a Bible, cannot afford one or both including those in the persecuted church

Prison Ministry Training Seminar Mission Trips for Individual Volunteers

  • One-to-five-day training seminars for individual local volunteers
  • Since 1994, over 18 training seminars in 18 countries have been sponsored by CFCI

Prison Ministry Training Institute Organizational Trips to Train Leaders of Churches or Other Organizations (Training the “Trainers”)

  • Since 1994, 8 training institute organizational trips have been sponsored by CFCI, including in Guatemala, Argentina, Colombia, Romania, Kenya, Sudan, India, and Fiji/Samoa.

Prison Ministry Affiliates

  • CFCI has informal partnerships referred to as “affiliates” with local ministries and organization in six countries- Cuba, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Panama, Egypt, and Fiji/Samoa.


CFCI Chicago Area Community Ministries

New Life Christian Center Church in the Back of the Yards Neighborhood

CFCI’s Community Ministries provide help and healing to families living in the Back of the Yards and other nearby Chicago communities who have relatives in Cook County Jail.

New Life Christian Center Assembly of God Church (since 2011)

  • Supporting the Church within the community; Sponsor basketball and softball teams
  • Angel Tree© Program (gift distribution and Christmas Party 60-120 kids)
  • Immigration Support Services (since 2016)

Food Pantry (since 2012)

  • Weekly for 20 families in the Back of the Yards neighborhood.
  • Primary Food Donor: Trader Joe’s- 1147 S Wabash Ave
  • Up to 16 volunteers from New Life Christian Center and Chaplains for Christ

Detention Reduction Project (since 2012)

  • Help teens from going to jail; Housing for families with gang problems (Chicago & Suburbs)

CFC At The Barrios (since 2013)

  • Helping kids of the incarcerated; Integrating them to a church

After Care Program (since 2010)

  • Visitation of the families of the incarcerated; Placing families in churches; Job placement for the unemployed; Transition Housing Services (Chicago & Suburbs)

Ministry Partners (since 2014)

  • Financial help for up to 8 missionaries in the US and up to 12 internationally
