What should I do after the rape?
Report the incident immediatly to city or county officers. Reporting allows the evidence to be collected promptly. Rape can be prosecuted up to 3 years, Child victims can report until the age of 23. Receive medical treatment as soon as possible. Medical treatment within 72 hours can prevent STD's and pregnancy. A team is available 24 hours to take a victim to the hospital or police station. The 24 hour crisis line can also be used for a victim who is suicidal or depressed.

Compensation: Victims cooperating with prosecution can have expenses paid for medical care, burial, wage loss, counseling. Call Crime Victims Compensation Program, Idaho Industrial Commission, Boise 1-800-950-2110.

Emergency Housing: Several shelters for victims of domestic violence are in our region. Haven House provides shelter for women and children.

Dial 911: Dialing 911 is the appropriate response to someone's threat of suicide, commission of a crime, instability or serious injury.

Medical Evidence: Evidence is gathered at the hospital and by law is paid for by the police.

Cell phones: Free Cell phones are available for any victim of stalking or threats to make 911 calls. Ask the The Rape Response & Crime Victim Center about this service.

A variety of aid is available for someone who has lived in Bonneville County 6 months. Salvation Army and various church groups also provide aid.
