Types of Membership
Personal Comments
Join/Renew AMCAP

Professional Membership: Requires professional training and membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Holds right to vote and hold of>Associate Membership: Requires support of the purposes of the association, but not Church membership or professional involvement in counseling or psychotherapy. May not vote or hold office.

Student Membership: Current involvement in a formal program of professional training in counseling. psychotherapy, or social work. Holds right to vote and hold office.
International Associate: Meets qualifications of Professional or Associate membership and lives outside of the Untied States and Canada. May not vote or hold office. Those who qualify for Professional membership may pay Professional dues and be entitled to vote and hold office.

Professional Retired: A Professional Member who is retired is entitled to pay Student dues and Convention fees. Holds right to vote and hold office.

Sustaining: Any individual who qualifies for one of the above types of membership and who makes a substantial financial contribution (as determined by the Board) to AMCAP may be designated as a Sustaining Member. No dues are required once this status has been determined, and they shall enjoy all the rights and benefits of their respective membership category.

Honorary: Individuals identified by the Board as having made sustained, significant contribution to AMCAP, the Church, or their respective professions may be designated as an Honorary Member. No annual dues are required, and they shall enjoy all the rights and benefits of their respective membership category.

AMCAP Fellow: AMCAP Fellows include the founders and past Presidents of AMCAP.


AMCAP is an international professional organization of counselors, psychotherapists and others in helping professions whose common bond is adherence to the principles and standards of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Individual opinions and ideas do not necessarily reflect those of the AMCAP board or the general AMCAP membership. AMCAP is neither sponsored by nor does it speak for the LDS church or its leaders.
