Onizuka Space Center Celebrates
15th Anniversary
The Onizuka Space Center, centrally located at the Kona International Airport, will celebrate its anniversary on July 22-23. To thank the community for its support, admission will be FREE during both days from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Visitors will view a newly updated International Space Station display including a special rotating chair used in astronaut training and research.
The Onizuka Space Center is a tribute to Kona astronaut, Ellison Onizuka and his Challenger crewmates who tragically lost their lives in 1986. The Center's interactive exhibits promote the inspirational Challenger legacy of science education for Hawaii's youth.
