Outreach Ministries
Let’s not allow the weight of the world to be held by one, two or three, but let’s all reach-out around the world to abolish poverty, discrimination, anger and sin. Let’s all do as God commanded “Love one another as I have loved you”.
Please contact the church office for more information on the volunteer activities listed below.

Carpenter's Kitchen
Carpenter’s Kitchen is a volunteer organization that provides dinner to approximately 250 needy guests every Saturday evening at Mount Vernon United Methodist Church in downtown Baltimore. Four or five times each year 15-25 members of the congregation volunteers at the Carpenter’s Kitchen. They setup the dinning room, cook and serve dinner, interact with the guests and cleanup. LLUMC also provides funds for the hot meal that is prepared by the volunteers as well as dozens of brownies for dessert. Martie and Phil Browning are currently the points of contact for this ministry.
Quality of Life Retreats
The Quality of Life Retreat program began in 1988. The Retreats give persons living with HIV/AIDS an opportunity to get away, rest and relax, to interact and to learn the techniques and attitudes that are effective in dealing with the issues of long-term survival. The Retreats are held four times a year (February, May, September and December). The February and December Retreats are held at a Retreat House, Washington, D.C. while the May and September Retreats are held at Mar-Lu-Ridge Inn, Jefferson, Maryland. LLUMC provides staff, refreshments and financial support for these Retreats. Loretta Anders leads this ministry.
