Business Card - Is Size Important?
| by: Jeff Messenger |

What about the size of my business card? This is a good question, as you can have many different sizes as well as shapes. Try to stay standard with the size and shape. The most common business card is 2 inches high by 3.5 inches long. This is the perfect size to fit most anywhere, like in a shirt pocket, in a money clip, a billfold, in a card index for business cards etc.
People are starting to change the shape of business cards to attract attention. This could possibly get attention but what are you expecting your customer to do with it. He most likely will file 13 it because it won’t fit anywhere he can put it for easy access. The main objective is to leave a card that will be descriptive and your customers will keep it as long as possible. This is your opportunity to get your name and your companies name out front, don’t blow it. I am sure you have heard this saying " keep it simple stupid ", don’t complicate the process.
The art of designing a good business card and having an effective one is not rocket science. There are only a few rules to follow, follow these and you will be fine. You can get business cards that are longer than they are wide, this is not all bad, however it is more difficult to get information on the front of the card. Stay with what works and is proven. Don’t try to reinvent the wheel.
