Members of the AICA faculty are selected on the basis of their academic credentials as well as their dedication to our stated goals for a Christian education. Each member of the faculty has completed a college or graduate level teacher preparation program. Each teacher has also expressed a desire to serve God through teaching in a Christian school and has made a personal commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

Stephen C. Bailey ~ Headmaster Stephen Bailey received an Associate's Degree in Engineering at Wentworth Institute of Technology (Boston) and a Bachelor of Fine Arts at Southeastern Massachusetts University (Dartmouth, MA). He is currently completing course work at Trinity Theological Seminary (Newburgh, IN) in the Master's Degree Program for Biblical Counseling and has completed course work with CCEF (Christian Counseling and Educational Foundation) and NANC (National Assoc.of Nouthetic Counselors). Formerly, he served for 15 years as elder and bible teacher to the families of his congregation. More recently, Steve has completed a Masters of Divinity at the Reformed Baptist Pastoral Training Institute in Dartmouth, MA. He is entering his 13th year as Headmaster at AICA. Steve and his wife, Susan, are members of the First Reformed Baptist Church in Hixville, MA. They have one daughter enrolled at AICA in 11th grade and are the parents of the first high school graduate from AICA (Jared Bailey, class of '07).

Miss Rachel Wesner ~ Kindergarten/1st Grade
Miss Wesner is from Michigan and Indiana, and was educated by her parents at home, being trained in the Scriptures from infancy. She was involved in the family internet business for nearly a decade as an accountant, office manager, editor and customer service associate. She graduated with a double major in Spanish and Secondary Education from a local university, and taught High School Spanish and Jr. High sciences for two years in a local Christian School. She was then called to spend a year in the Dominican Republic as a Christian school English teacher. In the summer of 2009, she was made aware of the need for a Kindergarten/1st grade teacher at AICA. Seeing the Lord's direction, she moved to Massachusetts in August, and is greatly enjoying this opportunity.

Mrs. Angela Beavers ~ 2nd Grade
Mrs. Beavers has many years of experience teaching second grade, both in public and Christian schools. She attended Nyack Missionary College in Nyack, New York and graduated from Roger Williams University. Before coming to AICA, she was a specialist in gifted and talented education in the Barrington, RI school system. She is the mother of 3 daughters and lives with her husband, Larry, in Fall River.

Miss Rebekah Alves ~ 3rd & 4th Grade
Miss Alves is a native of Rhode Island and graduated from Rhode Island College. Before coming to AICA in 2009, she spent some time in both Colorado and Northern Uganda. In Colorado she worked at a camp which served the neighboring school communities in their outdoor education programs. While in Northern Uganda, Miss Alves worked as a missionary to Thirty-Nine various schools. These schools included many within the Muslim communities where she was able to Evangelize for Jesus Christ. She is a member of Graceway Church and is currently the Youth Leader there.

Miss Renee Olsen ~ 5th & 6th Grade
After several years of working as an assistant for top level management in a large electronics firm, Miss Renee Olsen graduated in 2005 from Rhode Island College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. Committed to Christian education, she has been with Aquidneck Island Christian Academy since 2005 teaching 5th and 6th grade students, as well as teaching Latin to 4th graders. In addition to her teaching, she's involved in directing the annual Christmas and 5th and 6th grade History plays. She is a member of Living Hope Christian Church in North Kingstown and currently co leads a weekly Woman's Bible Study.

Miss Andrea Murray ~ Literature, Writing Skills, Choir and Drama
Miss Murray joined the AICA staff in 2005. She has a BA in English from Providence College and a Certificate of Completion from Fairwood Bible Institute in Dublin, NH where she studied for three years. She has worked extensively with the 7th through 12th graders in her church and has run a high school s' retreat each summer for the past four years. She worships at Woodhaven Chapel in Scituate.

Mr. Robert Perron ~ World History, Church History, Geo/Political Survey, New Testament Survey, Yearbook Advisor, Student Council AdvisorMr. Perron joined the AICA faculty in the fall of 2006. He has taught History and English in both public schools and private Christian schools and has taught English at the university level in the People's Republic of China. Mr. Perron is a graduate of Barrington College and has done post graduate work at Worcester State College. He and his family attend Lakeville Christian Fellowship in Lakeville, MA. They also have a home videography and graphic arts business, Homespun Multimedia Productions, recording and preserving family histories, and other video, audio, photographic and graphics services to businesses, churches, and organizations. Mr. Perron has also released an evangelism DVD, Damnation or Salvation? How to Escape an Eternity in Hell. |

Dr. Thomas Roche ~ Latin, Greek, Interpretation of the Bible, Logic and Rhetoric
Dr. Roche is an accomplished scholar with various degrees in his field of studies including Greek, Latin and Library Science. He holds the following degrees: BA - Classics, magna cum laude; Williams College (1989). MA - Classics, Univ. of VT (1991). Thesis: "The Development of the Roman Navy." MLS-- Library Science, SUNY Buffalo (2001).PhD - Classics, SUNY Buffalo (2000). Dissertation: "The New Prophecy and the Spiritual Christian Sect: Montanism as a Prototype of Christian Sectarianism". In addition, Dr. Roche has studied Education at the College of Notre Dame of MD (1992) and German at the Univ. of Regensburg (summer 1989). Dr. Roche is a member of the Lakeville Christian Fellowship (www.lcfbaptist.org) of Lakeville, MA (London 1689 Confession).

Mrs. Elsbeth Hupkes - van der Togt
Science and Mathematics
Mrs. van der Togt joined the AICA faculty in 2009. She is from The Netherlands. At Leiden University, she obtained a MA in Physics (2004) and a MA in Education of Physics (2006). she taught Physics and Chemistry at a high school in The Netherlands before moving to Providence. She worships at Mount Hope Community Baptist Church in Providence.

Mrs. Terri Cicchelli ~ Physical Education (1-4)
Mrs. Cicchelli began teaching physical education at AICA in 2006. She has a BSN from Bowling Green State University, and a MSN from Boston College. She is also an AFAA Certified Personal Fitness Trainer, and a Johnny G certified spinning instructor. She has 3 children who attend AICA, and her family attends First Presbyterian Church in Newport.
