Academics
Our Educational Philosophy
AICA has as its educational foundation the infallible Word of God as revealed in Holy Scripture. The authority of Scripture encompasses education. The goal of all education, according to I Corinthians 1:17, is to help man achieve life’s purpose: to know and serve God. According to Psalm 24:1, all materials for education are related to God. In addition, true wisdom apart from Jesus Christ is not possible. We must see and acknowledge the comprehensive principle for life given in Colossians 2:3 where Paul says this about the Lord: “In Him are all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge hidden.”

At AICA, we believe that a complete education is one in which the whole child (spiritual, academic, social and physical) is developed. As a Christian school, we are committed to teaching a Christian world-view, integrating a biblical perspective and Christian principles into every aspect of school life.

Our philosophy with respect to spiritual development is:

· to teach the Bible as the Word of God, a source of doctrine and a guide for daily living.

· to teach the basic tenets of the Christian faith.

· to encourage each student to come into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, honoring Him as Lord and Savior and seeking to know and do the will of God.

· to stimulate a pattern of life based on the standards set forth in the Bible.

· to aid each student in integrating Christian philosophy into every area of their life.

Our philosophy with respect to academic development is:

· to teach the skills for effective comprehension, communication and computation.

· to provide a sound curriculum which will thoroughly prepare each student for his or her future academic or vocational goals.

· to stimulate creative thinking and appreciation for beauty in the fine arts.

· to develop each student’s critical thinking ability.

· to help students to recognize in every area of study, the revelation of God in creation and in the Holy Scriptures.

Our philosophy with respect to social development is:

· to encourage the sense of each individual’s worth as a special creation of God and a recipient of His love.

· to foster the establishment of wholesome personal relationships.

· to encourage responsible membership in the school community and a growing awareness of local, state and national citizenship.

· to help prepare students for Christian leadership.

Our philosophy with respect to physical development is:

· to help each student achieve physical fitness.

· to help each student develop a respect for the body as a gift from God and a temple of the Holy Spirit.

Our philosophy of education regarding its origin, purpose and application to everyday life is distinctly Christian. The crucial element is the Christian teacher who must be committed to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. This commitment must be reflected in their personal dealings with peers and students and in their ability to apply Christian principles to their teaching areas.

In conclusion, it is the goal of AICA to educate each student to his or her highest potential as a child of God and a citizen of the United States of America. To this end, the curriculum, teaching and environment must all lend themselves to a Christian interpretation of all life.
