She was only thirty-five, a wife and mother of four young children. By God’s sovereign will, she had been given new life through Jesus Christ and was eager to serve Him daily. Then came the day, when life as she knew it was changed by one word…cancer. For five long years she battled against this merciless disease. The effects of a sinful and fallen world, in the form of cancer, slowly ravaged her outward body. But praise be to God…her spirit was being strengthened. She took comfort in the truths of God’s Word. Her ‘inward man was being renewed day by day’ and her mind was fixed upon that which was unseen and eternal. The Lord was her comfort and peace during what would be remembered as the darkest moments of her young life. But God remained ever kind and faithful in the midst of this affliction. The more unrelenting the cancer became, the greater her resolve to depend upon God and His profound and miraculous work of grace in her life and in the lives of her family. Her resolve included the daily, spiritual training of her children. The Word of God caused them to persevere in contending with affliction and understanding God’s character and His love for them.
On Tuesday, September 4, 2001 our beloved sister Molly was lovingly and faithfully called home to her eternal rest into the presence of her Lord. We will not soon forget the legacy our dear sister left for those she loved deeply. As a full time wife and mother, her greatest desire was to see her children raised in the nurture and admonition of our Lord Jesus Christ. She and her husband have entrusted their children to Aquidneck Island Christian Academy for the care and spiritual training they strived daily, to accomplish. Since the of our sister Molly, her children continue in their education at AICA. In the event of this very great and recent loss, we at AICA have considered more soberly, the responsibility of training our students in all academics, upon the foundation of the Holy Scriptures, that His comfort and truth would be taught, to be depended upon and taken comfort in, for all of life.
Following Molly’s, AICA established a Scholarship Fund in her name, that her resolve to train her own children in the name of the Lord, would be realized for other children. Monies donated on this behalf will financially sponsor children to receive an education at Aquidneck Island Christian Academy. We encourage you to prayerfully consider giving to the Molly Scott Scholarship Fund. We pray that through your giving, a child might be given the gift of a Christian education.
