Athletics at AICA currently consists of a weekly one hour Physical Education class for grades 5-12, and a boy’s basketball team.
Each Physical Education class includes the following: warm up, stretching, strength training, cardiovascular and anaerobic exercise, and skills training in the games of soccer or basketball. Classes are physically challenging, and the children are instructed to eat a small lunch on class days, and to show up fully hydrated. Our goal is to be good stewards of the bodies the Lord has given us, to give our best effort for God’s glory, and to learn to encourage others and practice the great, Biblical principle of teamwork.
AICA’s boy’s basketball team, “The Eagles”, is young and inexperienced. We do play to win, however, and are both enthusiastic and committed. We are committed to giving our very best effort, and to trusting that God will do something truly special through us to glorify His Son Jesus Christ. We are also committed to praising Him, whether we win or lose. In an effort to gain on our competition, our weekly practices are currently running year round, and there has been significant improvement in recent months. The team is coached by Mr. Shaun Scott of North Kingstown, who is assisted by Mr. David Ferreira from Portsmouth. GO EAGLES!
