December 20, 2008 Eagles Add a New Win! The Eagles overcame a 12 point first half deficit to beat The New
Testament Christian School (TNT) on Saturday, 66-60. It was their first
ever win against TNT, in a see-saw game that was close to the end. The
Eagles received a major contribution from every player, and as a team
broke the single game record in points (66), rebounds (60), assists
(24), and steals (15)! The next game is at New England Christian
Academy (NECA) on Friday, January 2, in Swansea, Ma. The Eagles
defeated NECA 55-54 in overtime in their season opener in November.
Please come and support your hard working Eagles, and praise the Lord
for our exciting win!

back, and with two strong additions to the team, they appear to be
contenders for a Coastal Prep League B Division Championship. The
Eagles are bigger, faster, and more experienced this year
than last, and they are playing with more confidence. Come and support
your Eagles as they play for the glory of God! 2008-2009 schedule is on
the school internet calendar and is updated at all times.

Eagles Finish 2007-08 Season The Eagles finished a very exciting 2007-2008 basketball season in
March, with a final record of 8 wins and 11 losses. In our first full
year of organized basketball, we joined the Coastal Prep League, and
competed against teams such as Block Island, St. Andrew's School, and
New England Christian Academy. It was a truly blessed and successful
season, as this year's team learned to apply valuable Biblical
principles on the basketball court, things like: perseverance,
industriousness, friendship, loyalty, enthusiasm and cooperation. The
boys represented AICA well, and the league showed enthusiasm over our
participation. With most of last year's team expected back in
2008-2009, we look forward to the coming year eagerly.
Please support the Eagles with a contribution to A.I.C.A.'s "Athletic
Fund". Your gift will help with the costs of uniforms, gym rentals,
referee fees, travel expenses and the Sports Banquet, and would help
make it possible for the Eagles to represent Aquidneck Island Christian
Academy in the Coastal Prep League in the coming year. Praise the Lord.

The good LORD provided AICA with its first organized athletic team during the 2006-2007 school year, a boy’s high school basketball team. Praise the LORD! After careful deliberation, the name “The Eagles” was chosen, with Isaiah 40:31 in mind:
“But those who wait on the LORD Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint”. The Eagles played six games in their first season, and earned their first ever victory against the Homeschool Riches on March 15, 2007, winning 34-25. The 2007-2008 season looks promising, as the entire team is expected to return. We also anticipate a gym transformation which will allow us to have home games!
The highest priority of our team is to glorify Jesus Christ in all we do. Teamwork, industriousness, self control, intentness, and poise, among other things, are principles we find in scripture, and therefore strive to make our own. We believe that basketball is the mere venue through which God will use us to glorify Himself, and through which others will see Christ in us. We are resolved to praise the Lord whether we win or lose, but that it is our God given responsibility to strive after victory! GO EAGLES! PRAISE THE LORD!
