Bailey's Brook Study
In September AICA’s after school program for environmental science known as the Bailey’s Brook Study will enter its 8th year. Students from middle to high school are welcome to participate. It is a community service project that works with the Middletown Town Office and the University of Rhode Island’s Watershed Watch Program. Our study provides information about this very important brook that supplies water to the Newport Water Department Reservoir. The team meets weekly to collect water samples, cleans the brook of trash, and removes invasive plant species that have taken over the banks of the brook. We are God’s Stewards of His creation and we take this responsibility seriously!

Norman Bird Sanctuary Study
AICA’s Third and Fourth Graders continue a long range study of the Redback Salamanders on Aquidneck Island that was started in 2001. This is a community service project that involves The Norman Bird Sanctuary (NBS). In the course of our study the students observe the diverse changes of the Redback Salamander during each of the four seasons (how amazing is the beauty God has given to each of the seasons!). This information is documented, illustrated with photographs, graphed, and forwarded to the NBS for compilation over time to determine changes in the fauna at their sanctuary. This allows students to see God’s world as He created it and determine whether or not we are being the stewards He has charged us to be. It also allows AICA students to be recognized for their educational commitment to Him and to their community.
