About the Alaska Vegan Society

The Alaska Vegan Society was started in the fall of 2005 by Rays of Hope, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit group dedicated to creating a more compassionate and sustainable world.

The goal of the Alaska Vegan Society is to support people who are already vegetarian or vegan and those who are moving toward or curious about a plant-based diet. We want to create a fun and open community where we can learn, socialize and work together to make this a safer, healthier, more compassionate world.

Our Mission
To create a compassionate and sustainable world by inspiring and supporting reverence for all life and the adoption of a plant-based diet.

Some of the activities we would invite you to join include: monthly potluck dinners, Earth Day and Thanksgiving dinners, annual picnic and special events.

If you are new to the Alaska Vegan Society events the monthly potluck dinner might surprise you.  We have 30-50 people attend this fun monthly event. There is a tremendous selection of great 100% plant-based food. (Yum!)  There is a food demonstration and program on a wide variety of subjects.

Also, you might want to check out the Alaska Vegetarian Society Newsletter
archive 4 1/2 years of interesting articles on nutrition, lifestyle choices, personal stories, upcoming events and of course a delicious food recipe.
