We have been raising German Shepherd dogs at this location for over 20 years. Our dogs go back to the old American blood lines. Our shepherds are bred for well defined heads with noble expression, intelligence and companionship. We will not introduce over angulated or overly aggressive bloodlines into our breeding program.
Our shepherds are not kennel raised. They share our home, and our large estate provides plenty of room for exercise, and play.
Desert Star Shepherds possess unusually high intelligence, outstanding character, and a strong desire to please. They perform all work requested of them with good will and enthusiasm. They excel at obedience and agility exercises. Obedience training is recommended to insure a faithful and loyal companion. Dog and owner benefit by building a strong bond that will last for years to come.
We have donated several of our German Shepherds to the Eye Dog Foundation in Phoenix. They have been accepted with enthusiasm and praise for their intelligence and quality. Their hip and elbow x-rays have always met requirements. They show genuine enthusiasm for their service work and their temperment is considered wonderful. Please view our special page dedicated to these amazing dogs.
Desert Star Shepherds are well socialized and accompany us most everywhere. They are tolerant of other animals, love children, and are bold protectors of family and home.
We specialize primarily in sables of all colors. On occasion we have solid black, and black and silver Shepherds available.

Joseph is a wonderful, experienced and effective stud dog. His pedigree goes back to some old American Champions, service dogs, search and rescue, personal protection dogs and police dogs. Joseoh has not been OFA certified. He has been exrayed by Dr. Ulysses McElyea, our veterinarian. He was anetheazied and
four pictures taken. Full hip and elbow, consisting of four exrays in different positions. Dr. McElyea pronounced all exrays "good". Joseph is a very confident, intelligent dog. In my 20 years of raising German Shepherds, Joseph is without a doubt, one of the smartest. He is a beautiful dog, with a magnificent, black, cream and golden plush coat. He excels at
obedience work and agility.
He is a very loyal, loving companion, who can accompany us most everywhere, due to his genuine good temperament and obedient nature. Approved females only. Stud fee $500 Pick of litter will be considered. Joseph is an approved frequently used stud and his DNA is on file with the AKC.

We are extremely proud of these amazing Desert Star Shepherds and proud to donate pups and be a small part of the
Eye Dog Foundation.
The dedicated puppy raiser families play a major role in supplying Guide Dogs. Donated pups and foundation pups are put with volunteer "rasier families". They wear a blue "Eye Dog in Training" cape and are governed under the same rules and regulations as a Guide Dog. The raiser family, under the guidance of the trainers at EDF, gives them obedience training. The pup accompanies her family everywhere. At 12 to 18 months, the raiser family turns their pup over to Scot at the EDF for harness training. On successful completion, the now adult guide dog is matched with her own visually impaired person.
