Leslie settled in Hawaii in the early 90's. Looking for a new challenge on the volatile volcanic island of Hawaii, she became fascinated by coffee and the coffee cherry. She would pick berries and hull them by hand, soon discovering how to discern the best from the not-so-good. She then continued to explore the whole coffee making process from tree to bean to cup until she developed the Perfect Cup of coffee. Leslie learned to start with quality beans grown in the ideal environment. She then discovered how to give coffee an exceptional flavor by using special (and secret) roasting techniques. The secrets bring out an essence that makes WoodRose so exceptional.
When word got out how good her coffee tasted, she could not keep up with the demand. That's when Ron stepped up and said,"Let's buy us a coffee farm!" They scoured the coffee region for the most ideal ground to grow this epicurean specialty and choose their place in paradise in the center of the world renowned Coffee belt of Kona and WoodRose Kona Coffee was born.
Leslie eventually got overwhelmed with the growth of her little business. Looking around for help she discovered that her new neighbor, Sue, was just as crazy about coffee as she was. So Sue was adopted into the WoodRose Coffee ohana and schooled in the secrets to growing and making an superb cup of coffee. Thus the heart of WoodRose became Leslie and Sue.
