Clear Lake Shores, the Yachting Capital of Texas, boasts of a heritage rich in maritime history – from the days of pirates, when Jean Lafitte anchored in Jarboe Bayou, hiding his masts among the tree-lined shore – to the present world-class marinas. The island community has maintained a natural blend of the original turn-of-the-century weekend escape cottages with full-time residents.
The shoreline drive allows golf carts, bicycles, rollerblades, and pedestrians to circumnavigate the island with a great view of Clear Lake.
The oldest municipal building still in use in Galveston County represents our pride in this community. Built in 1927, this 72-year-old building has served as clubhouse and City Hall.
Come to the island for sunset at Sun Dial Park, moonrise at Deep Hole Park, or launch your boat at Shell Bottom Park, but remember, slow down and relax.
Sincerely,
Vern Johnson Mayor
