Andre came to Alaska Dog & Puppy Rescue in February of this year after a horrific ordeal. Left to wander and fend for himself in Houston, AK Andre became entangled in a trappers snare and lost part of both of his left limbs. Emaciated, weak and injured worse than any dog we had seen before we were not sure that Andre would survive and even if he did, would he be able to walk? Despite the trauma, the pain, the hunger and the fact that he had been abandoned Andre's tail wagged with such enthusiasm that the veterinarians and foster mom Karen felt they had to give this determined and spirited guy a chance.

To meet Andre now you would never know that he had had a bad day in his life. He is a happy, healthy and lovable dog. Despite the fact that Andre has found his own way to get around on his two good legs. It was the opinion of several vets that Andre would need partial prosthesis for his other two legs in order to live a long healthy life. |

In July the Associated Press ran an article about Andre that was featured in our own Anchorage Daily news as well as national news organizations such as NPR, NBC, CBS, Yahoo and MSNBC, the story has even been in several national and international newspapers. To us at ADPR Andre is not a poster child for the trapping debate but a sweet, lovable, playful and loyal dog. |

Andre's injuries may have been physically caused by a trap but he was also abandoned by someone and left to fend for himself. We as people failed him yet still he wagged his tail, licked our faces and hoped that someone might love him. |

|
Andre continues to do well and is in the process of being fitted for his prosthesis and we hope to see him running on all four legs soon. Andre has taught us all about hope and determination. He never gave up and he has taught us to keep fighting for him and all the other dogs out there like him. If you would like to donate towards Andre's Fund PO Box 876888 Wasilla, Ak 99687
