My name is Tabitha. When I was about 8 weeks old I was found and turned into Animal control. I had a very badly broken front leg. I waited for my owners to come and find me but they never did. The nice people at north star vets took care of me and decided it would be best for me to have my leg amputated. ADPR paid for my surgery and hope to raise funds to cover the cost. I am feeling really great and can run and play with all my friends at my foster mums house (Andre and I are in love) I am spayed and Micro chipped and have started on my puppy shots. I am soon going to be looking a family who will love me and take REAL good care of me. I am almost house trained and love to sleep all night in a crate. Please call my foster mum Karen at 841-7030 if you would like more information on me. Also If you would like to make a donation to help pay for my surgery that would be wonderful.
Thank you to all the people who donate, adopt and support our special needs friends.

Hi everyone, Just a quick update on how I am doing. My wounds are healed, I have gained 25lbs and I'm getting my prosthetic legs fitted. I am doing very well on two legs, I can run and play and do all the normal happy dog things but it will sure be nice to have some prosthetic limbs to help my two good legs because they get a little tired so I have to lean on my friends or sit down when what I really want to do is play with my friends. |

 I've been adopted!! |
My name is Charlie.I'm a 1.5yr old Bulldog. Last November my previous owners had to take a trip overseas and had placed me with someone to watch me while they were gone.I some how found myself out on the road and was hit by a car. Animal control was called and I was taken to the vet where it was determined that I had suffered a bad break in my rear leg.The decision was made to have me put to sleep due to lack of funds to pay for my surgery. |

Thankfully the vets had seen what a wonderful dog I am and made a call to ADPR who sent me to an orthopedic surgeon to have my leg fixed. It has been a long process and many trips to the vet. My pins have now been removed and I am undergoing physical therapy in the hopes that I will not need further surgery. My foster family loves me very much but would like to see me one day in a home with a family that will love me and take care of me and that I can call my own. If you would like more updates on me or would like to help with my extensive medical expenses please call my foster Mom, Karen at 841-7030. She loves to tell people about how wonderful I am. We will keep you updated on my journey to hopefully a full recovery.
P.S I would really like to thank all the wonderful medical staff for the awesome care I received at North Star Vet Clinic.

Smokey is a Gordon Setter mix about 5 years old. He's a great dog! He's good with children, knows basic commands, housetrained & loves retrieving. He is a very happy boy!Smokey has developed allergies and is currently on meds/special food. Smokey has been on allergy shots since October and is doing very well now. We are looking for a great family to give him the special care he needs, as he's worth every penny. |

 I've checkin' out a new home!!! |
"Scout" is a very sweet, 8mth old, neutered male, Black Lab mix. He is very playful and loves to fetch(although he sometimes plops down with whatever you toss for him) loves to play with others, people and dogs a like. Scout may have been abused. He has some type of neurological deficit which are only noticeable when he is drinking water or turns his head to accept treats. When he runs, its more of a gallop...which brings a smile to your face. He is very gentle and seems to know to stay out of the way of the grouchy dogs in the household. Scout needs a loving, patient family that ideally would let him sleep on the bed with you. With no changes in over to 2 months the vets are unsure if his condition will stay the same or worsen.

HappyEnding for Yukon Jack!!!
Good day! My husband Paul and I are the new proud parents of Yukon "Jack". We adopted Jack Saturday afternoon and boy has Jack come into his own. As soon as he arrived at his new home in Willow he immediately found the basket of toys and the two cats! He even gathered up 5 chew bones, yes 5 chew bones and brought them to his sleeping pad just as if he had owned them his entire life!
I'm starting to think his eyesight might not be as bad as thought. Jack is with me here today in Anchorage relaxing in the car. He's already been to Mill & Feed to get a new harness and retractable leash. No submissive pottying on the field trip inside - awesome!
Yesterday, Jack went for a walk with 7 other dogs and has taken to a leash like it was nothing. He slept comfortably in his kennel Saturday night, but decided to howl and bark until 2 am this morning. But, he did go potty outside first thing this morning, so hopefully his kennel days at night will be short lived.
Little Jack is such a joy and we are proud to be caring for him. We just can't wait for the day when he loves us as much as he loves our cats and other dogs.
Thanks for caring for the little guy!

Early one Sunday morning we got a call from Houston AC. They had found a young pup tied out front of the museum. He was very sickly and so weak he couldn't stand. He was dehydrated and very under weight at about 10lbs. The vet told them to feed him broth but were concerned he wouldn't make it. The group was called and we immediately took him in and gave him fluids. We took him to the vet and much to our surprise they said he was actually closer to 3 yrs old and might be blind. His eyes were infected and encrusted.

Upon exam he showed neurological issues. As we got him to eat, he gained weight, was able to walk on his own, was alert to his environment and when retested his neurological issues had improved. However, tests still indicated he was blind in both eyes with a possibility he can see shadows in the right eye. We've named him "Yukon Jack". He loves to throw his stuffed reindeer toy in the air and when he puts pressure on the paw it will play Christmas songs. Yukon Jack has a lot of character and he isn't afraid to check things out and roam around. He will come up to you to get a treat but is more cautious when you move to pet him. He will need a home that will show him where things are so he can maneuver his way around. He has gained about 15lbs in our care but is still only medium sized at 25-30lbs.
