The Speakers

Jorge B. Pisarello, MD is the medical director of the Spectrum Health Wound Healing Program. Dr. Pisarello is (USA) board certified in internal medicine and in the subspecialty of diving and hyperbaric medicine. He graduated from the University of Buenos Aires Medical School in Argentina. Prior to joining Spectrum Health in 1998, he was the director of the Wound and Hyperbaric Medicine Service of the The Sanatorio Modelo Quilmes, a large teaching institution in Buenos Aires.

Ann H. Harris, MSN, RN, APRN received her Bachelor's of Science degree in nursing at University of Michigan and her master's degree in nursing at Grand Valley State University. She is a nurse in advanced practice and has consulted in a variety of settings including home care, long-term care, hospitals, and private physicians' offices. She has published in peer-reviewed journals and has participated in regional, national, and international wound care symposia. She is a Clinical Nurse Specialist at Spectrum Health Wound Healing Program.

Patrick Meeker, MS, PT is a Physical Therapist from Lexington, KY. He graduated with baccalaureate degrees in Exercise Science and Health Science and a Masters degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Kentucky. He has been with the ROHO Group for 4 years as an account manager, rehab and wound specialist, and most recently, has been promoted to Clinical Applications Manager. Patrick represents continuing education seminars and programs at various international and national symposia for clinicians and rehabilitation professionals. His key areas of interest are pressure ulcer management, sitting biomechanics and research into the effects of whole body vibration.

The Program

Wound Healing and Pressure Ulcers
This seminar is devoted to pressure on the skin and wound management. The information will be helpful in understanding the current physiological basis for optimal wound healing.

Enhancing Funtion and Pelvic Stability
The overall goal of this presentation is to assist the healthcare professionals in assessment and care of clients with seating or positioning challenges.

Bullet 1 Define dynamic stability and its relationship to function 
Bullet 2 Recognize the ideal seated position for function 
Bullet 3 Identify how contact and support surfaces provide stability for alignment 
Bullet 4 Discuss the benefits of dynamic stability for clients with disabilities 
Bullet 5 Apply dynamic seating principles to a variety of seating situations
