Reach above the mast head and climb with ease.

The EZ-Climber patented system consists of a Masthead Unit (1) which contains a positive ratchet drum mechanism for lift, and a friction brake to allow controlled descent. Included also is a specially designed handle (6) which provides positive grip on the lifting line making it smooth to climb. This grip, attached to the bosuns chair via a safety lanyard acts as a emergency brake stopping the descent should the line be accidentally released.
A block (2), connected to the bosuns chair or harness provides a 2:1 mechanical advantage, it makes climbing the mast a simple and effortless operation. Lifting is achieved by pulling down on the line (3) via the handle (6) and sliding it along the line.
To lower yourself, the handle is gradually released by tilting the grip, this allows controlled descent. To stop descending or ascending, the handle is simply let go, which locks it in position while the lanyard on the grip will hold the line secure.
Should a higher mechanical advantage be desired, block kits are available to provide 3:1; 4:1; and 5:1 ratios.
The EZ-Climber maximum recommended working load is 350 lbs.

To operate the EZ-Climber:
-
Attach the Bosuns chair or harness to the shackle on the lifting block (4).
-
Raise the Masthead unit with a halyard (or two for additional safety) to the top of the mast (1-2). Make sure that the Bosuns chair remains at the base of the mast.
-
Connect the lanyard on the handle grip (6) to a strong attaching point on your bosuns chair or harness. Remember: THIS IS YOUR SAFETY BRAKE, it must be securely connected. Then attach the grip to the lifting line.
-
Place carrying bag (7) with excess line at the base of the mast, this will ensure that the line coils inside the bag as you climb, it will keep the deck clear and avoid entanglements when you descend.
-
Climb on to the bosuns chair or harness.
-
Pull handle grip downward, this action will lift you gradually, once you have pulled down the handle, hold the line in place with the other hand while sliding the grip upward to repeat the lifting motion. Each cycle will lift you between 5 and 7 feet.
-
Once you have reached the desired height, allow tha handle grip to lock and you are ready to work hands free.
To reach above the top of the mast, the use of a mast top harness is suggested. It allows you to stand up while remaining within the safety of your chair.
