The program is designed to prepare individuals for entry-level jobs in the field of General Diagnostic Ultrasound. Graduates may find suitable employment in hospitals, clinics, imaging centers, acute facilities, long-term facilities, or doctors’ offices. Graduates are able to use equipment that sends high-frequency sound waves to obtain images of various organs. A certificate of completion will be awarded to the student upon completion of this program.
This program is presented in the form of lectures, videotape, and slide presentations, and the use of analytical equipment. The approximate completion time for day students is one year and eight months. The completion time for evening students two years and four months. Externship is mandatory, and must be completed prior to graduation.

Medical Diagnostic Ultrasound Technicians are not required to have licensure in the state of Texas. Conditions for witing the registry exam are set by the ARDMS. These condition require students to attend a two program or be employed for two years, therefore gradutes from the Cardiotech Ultrasound school cannot write the ARDMS exam immediately after graduating. Graduates are encouraged to write the registry exam at their earliest convenience. American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS). is one of the recognized organization for setting the exam. Although federal and state laws do not require sonographers to be registered, many employers require the sonographer to be registered.

Sallie Mae loan is not available to foreign students. Foriegn students must secure funding in their country prior to applying to the program.
