Until the complete overhaul of the catalog system which is scheduled for 5-7 months from now (according to EZ-Net Tools support), we have to make due with the catalog system.

I've noticed some EZ-Net Tools sites have a 'View Shopping Cart' link, where clicking on it shows you the contents of the cart. Simply linking to the shopping cart page will not work because the contents of the cart (whenever someone adds something to the cart, of course) do not show up after clicking this link, so the user is basically left with no choice but to add something else to the cart just to have the option to view the cart or even to check out. One site has found a clever way to circumven this, however .... Paradise Software @ www.paradise.com has a View Cart link that remembers what is in the cart.

Can someone at tech support elaborate on how they were able to do this?

I link by using EZ-Browse...choose "look in:" /system

Then select the link 'Shopping Cart'

This will display the current cart without adding an item...

hope that helps you

Good answer, Lance. That is exactly the way it should be done.

For you advanced web editors, I want to express the importance of using the EZ-Browse. Marty pointed out that Paradise software does the "view shopping cart" very nicely. However, because of the use of web links in HTML blocks, they've caused a problem for some of their customers. Follow these steps to find out exactly what I mean:
1- Go to www.paradise.com
2- Click on "Osprey Video Capture Cards"
3- Click on "Osprey 50 USB Capture"
4- Add an item to your shopping cart
-- note the URL in your browsers address bar "http://www.paradise.com/cgi-bin/ez-cart/cart.cgi"
5- Now, click "Continue Shopping"
6- Click on the "Home" link
7- Click on "Camera Kits" in the bottom right side of the page.
8- Add an item to your shopping cart from this page.
-- Note now that your previous item you ordered is gone, and the only item you have in your cart is the one you just added.
-- Now note the URL in the address bar "http://abc.eznettools.net/cgi-bin/ez-cart/cart.cgi?44X1XX329736"
-- Notice how the domain names have changed on us, because of a link that was hard coded in HTML on the Home page.
9- Click "Continue Shopping"
10- Click on the "Shopping Cart" link at the top of the page.
-- note that you have your old item now, but not your most recently ordered one. Because we're back on the "paradise.com" domain.
-- again, the "Shopping Cart" link was also hard coded into the site, so it causes difficulties for some of your items, if people want to continue shopping.

I point this out, not to discourage you from using HTML blocks, but to just be aware that some of your links may lead your customers astray.
