One of my favorites during the Induction phase was ham and cheese roll-ups. I used nitrate-free "black forest" ham which is more expensive but very tasty. Sometimes I would spread on mayonnaise and parmesan cheese. Other times, I would roll up a slice of cream cheese.

During Induction, I felt really sick for a few days. Has anyone else had this experience?

Here's what the Atkins Center has to say about feeling sick during induction:

During Induction, a small percentage of people get withdrawal symptoms, which may include headaches, nausea, dizziness, fatigue, muscle cramps or irritability. If this happens to you, increase your intake of vegetables for several days. But as soon as your withdrawal symptoms have abated, go back to consuming no more than 20 grams of carbohydrates a day. Withdrawal rarely lasts more than four or five days. Or, if your weight continues to come off, you may stay at that level until you are ready to move to a higher level of carb consumption and slow down your weight loss. If you can ride out the symptoms, they should disappear within four or five days. Be sure you are drinking enough water and take a supplement that contains magnesium, calcium and potassium.

anyone tried somersizing, is it really considered a lowcarb eating plan??

wow, i was not expecting to be able to post without having to register somewhere. i tried atkins and cad, on atkins , it was to strict, no way i felt horrible. cad my one hr reward meal turned into a binge. dont really know why i couldnt stay on somersizing, i guess it is because i cant eat protien all the time and although on somersizing you are allowed whole grain carb meals and fruits, with the carb meals everything you eat with them has to be fatfree, it is very hard to find fatfree spagehtti sauce and fatfree, creamcheese and sourcream is just nasty. it is also hard to find whole wheat things that have no fat or sugar in them. there are things i found that i can live with but they are limited and i guess i just got bored, or maybe i just wasnt ready to give up popcorn and frenchfries and sat night cocktails.

one thing i do know is i am addicted to carbs, i could eat them all day everyday, i never get craving for meat or eggs or cheese, i like these things, but never over eat on them, so i think a lowcarb plan is for me. i guess i have to make up my mind and just decide to do it and stick with it.

i need to lose 50 lbs, i am a female and 37 yrs old and 5'3. any suggestions , tips , advice or maybe sharing your story with me would help. thanks so much.

I just wanted to post a message for a little inspiration to all those who are having trouble losing weight. It is very hard to do, but it is possible. I am a 25 year old female, 5ft 2in tall, and I weighed over 208lbs. Ater being on the atkins diet for about a year, I now weigh 122lbs. I stayed on a strict no-carbs (10 carbs or less a day) for 6 months to lose the majority of the weight. After that I changed it to Monday-Friday 10 carbs or less per day, Saturday & Sunday I eat what I want(without going overboard). It seems to work great for me and it helps me maintain my weight without being deprived completely of the foods that I enjoy. I know that it can be really difficult to stay on any diet when all your friends at work are eating candy or fast food all the time in front of you, but if you can stick to it for just a short time, it will pay off. I never thought that I could possibly be a size 5, now that I have accomplished that I feel so much better about myself and about life. Stay STRONG!!!

Can someone give me some good advice for induction!!!! In the book it has sample menus of weird stuff to eat. I am a big coffee drinker and I'm wondering if this is the cause of very little weight loss. I have been on Atkins for about 4 weeks and I've only lost about 4 pounds. I drink coffee using half and half and Splenda. I do like gum, sugarless, is this a problem? Am I eating too much salad......please help me out here. What kind of bacon has NO nitrates in it??? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I just want to get this weight loss going before I really get too discouraged! If someone is having fantastic results if you could just give me some samples of breakfast, lunch and supper for the induction phase I would really appreciate your help. Thanks...................As far as eating goes, I've only been eating eggs, cheese, meat and salad (along with coffee and gum) yes I am drinking water.
