Intent of this is to eliminate stands being left in the woods for several years and not being removed.

I believe the idea of having accountability of stands will positively impact everyone’s experience hunting CBRGC. If everyone receives 3 CBRGC branded tags or stickers to place on their stands, any stand that doesn’t have a sticker is considered abandoned. We would be free to hunt areas that we thought were being hunted but turn out to be old abandoned spots that have stands on.

I’ve walked/scouted pre season, throughout season, and post season hundreds of hours and countless miles. I’ve came across some issues and I believe I have a solution.

Issues:

-Many people have permanent stands throughout all blocks of RGC property in far excess of the maximum 3 stands per person rule.

- I’ve found many stands that appear to be old and unused in prime areas that deter us hunters from being in that vicinity. It’s easier to buy a new stand and leave the old one there vs breaking it down and removing.

-It’s near impossible to find quality hunting spots with sign, food, good access, etc without coming across 3-4 stands. Many of which don’t have names or contact info.

-There’s no way to keep people honest about their number of permanent stands.

-Non-RGC members hanging stands on RGC property. It’s very possible there are people walking into RGC property and hanging stands. Not leaving any contact info on the stand so we assume it’s a member and find somewhere else to hunt.

Solution:

RGC will provide a specific color tag per season. These can be preordered in bulk, numbered 1-600 (max 200 members x 3 stands each) and branded to avoided duplication and confusion with any other tags. A custom sticker with RGC and the Season year is an easy option as well.

The RGC president or someone he appoints will have control over the tags. Each member will be assigned 3 branded/numbered tags per season. Members must attach a tag to each one of their stands, with a maximum of 3 stands per member. The color of the tag will change every year, making it easy to identify abandoned stands, as it will require members to physically go to their stands and affix the new season’s tag to their stand(s). Every stand should be marked appropriately no later than opening day of Archery season.

Should a member locate an existing unmarked stand after opening day, the stand shall be deemed abandoned - providing the member who found the abandoned stand the option to hang a permanent stand if they choose, utilizing the appropriate season’s tag, and not infringe on the 100 meter rule for permanent stands. Members must notify the board of all unmarked stand locations so the owners may be contacted.

For distribution, tags can be provided when membership dues renew in the mailed out packet, along with member id card and window decal. If costs for providing the tags annually cannot be covered by the current annual dues, a small increase of $5/ member will cover the cost associated with printing and shipping the tags.

I like the idea of marking stands. The stickers or decals 1-600 Nate mentioned is a good idea.

I’d save the money for tags every year and have one map at the clubhouse and each of your 3 stands marked on the map with a GPS location.

Along with the GPS location of the stands if something was to happen to someone you may be found a lot sooner

I don’t think people would like the idea of posting our stand locations for everyone to see. With all the scouting we do, the long hours and miles invested, nobody wants anyone to simply look at a map and know where people stands are. Free intel in a sense.
The stickers would cost about $2-$3 per member and create a much more efficient system in my opinion

Didn't we vote on having the ability to hang a 2nd stand within 1 hunting spot to be able to play the wind. I believe this was voted on during the last rules meeting. How would we address that if we are issued 3 tags.
