I think we should continue to have discussions at the meeting. This could be brought up as a rule change and voted on by the club. This change should be voted on before we do it this way.

I like this way better. Each member has a chance to be heard and not interrupted, cut-off, or just not heard over all the other conversations that happen at meetings. In the past, there was very little productive discussion, more arguing and speculations on things. Everyone can comment if they want or just read all the comments so they know which way to vote the day of the meeting. No need to waste everyone's time at the meeting when people bring up old issues and don't actually know the current rules anyway.

The president or anyone else can not shut down discussion at these meeting . That’s crazy . No one voted for this type of corum. It looks like the democrats are running the club business.

I support healthy online debates on these topics prior to the meeting. Online debates will not detour from in-person discussions and final voting will continue to be at the meeting. This is an effort to limit the long, drawn out arguments we tend to have at the meetings. I encourage everyone to take note on each topic and think of an educational debate to present at the meeting.

The “discussions” had at the meeting are rarely productive and typically only lead to confusion. Realistically we need to keep up with current ways of communicating. This is a great way to allow each member the opportunity to speak on a topic and not be interrupted. Everyone easily has a record of what’s said so misinformation and half truths can be challenged. This will also reduce the time the I person meeting takes from everyone’s day and improve the quality of communication. I only wish we’d have started communicating this way sooner.

My intent of the no discussion statement was to have a discussion via the club’s bulletin board before the membership meeting to open a line of discussion on topics that might need to be voted on. I know after an hour and a half you start losing everyone’s attention. I know this to be true from the members I have spoken with. The club needs structured discussions and follow an agenda and stick to it, but sometimes it gets out of control, and it is hard to bring it back. For some that think “It looks like the democrats are running the club business.” I am not making any policy changes behind any club members’ backs. Like I have been saying since I have been the club president “this is a members club not a board club”
Every member’s opinion is valued and important to me.
