Diane and Steven Marshall

Class of 1963. Diane Georgia Hills. Chorus, Thespians, F.H.A., Hi-Steppers, Pep Club, Seminary Graduate. Married Steven Marshall. --@2005 ~ ~ ~ ~ HER OBITUARY: Diane Georgia Hills Marshall passed away at the age of 76 on Sunday, September 19, 2021 at the Utah Valley Hospital due to complications from a stroke. She was born September 10, 1945 in Provo, Utah to Clinton McClain Hills and Beulah Wright Roberts Hills. She grew up in Orem, Utah with her parents and her two older siblings, Douglas Roberts and Opal Roberts Woffinden. She graduated from BY High School in the Class of 1963, where she was active in the Pep Club and the Orem Sub Deb Club. She attended Brigham Young University. As a young woman, she enjoyed working at the Safeway Bakery in Provo where she learned to make beautiful cakes and cookies. Her natural talent combined with the skills she learned at the bakery helped her serve numerous friends, family, and neighbors throughout the years. She was especially well known for her delicate and beautiful Valentine sugar cookies with pink rosebuds. She baked and decorated wedding cakes for friends and family. She was also very talented at designing event buffets, full of her beautiful culinary creations. She met the love of her life, Steven Marshall, on a blind date that took place on her birthday in September of 1964. After Steven’s return from Vietnam, they were married and sealed in the Manti LDS Temple on May 10, 1967. Diane and Steve settled in southwest Orem where they raised 3 children, Stephanie, Blake, and Derek. Their 2nd baby, Clinton was stillborn, and this gave Diane a tender and emphatic heart to all those who struggled with pregnancy and losing children. Diane created a beautiful and comfortable home with her natural talent for design. She was especially well-known for her modern “branch” Christmas tree. Their home was filled with friends, family, good food, sports, card games, and laughter. She created an environment where her kids’ friends loved to congregate, and she fed them well. Diane loved to serve the children and youth of her neighborhood and local ward in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in the primary and young women’s organizations. She enjoyed participating as a room mother in her children’s classes and supporting them and their friends in sports and other activities. As a grandmother, she used her skills to make and decorate birthday cakes. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s events and giving them heartfelt, beautifully wrapped gifts. Diane was thrifty, loved to find a bargain, and liked to make things from scratch. She canned fruit, made jam, and hung her laundry outside on the clothesline. She baked the most delicious sour dough chocolate cake from her pioneer sour dough start. Diane is preceded in death by her father and mother – Clinton and Beulah; her brother - Douglas; her son - Clinton; her grandson - Braedon; her granddaughter - Paige; and her great grandson - Dax. Marcia Ann & Robert Ludlow

Class of 1963. Marcia Ann Nelson. Debate, Oratory, Band, Ladies Glee Club, Honor Society President, Model U.N., Seminary Graduate, Pep Club, Thespians, F.H.A., Spanish Club. BYU BS Elementary Education 1968. Married Robert C. Ludlow, DDS-R. @2008 ~ ~ ~ ~ HIS OBITUARY: Marcia Ann Nelson Ludlow, December 23, 1945 - December 5, 2017. Marcia Ann Nelson Ludlow passed away at her home in Modesto, California on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 after battling chronic kidney disease for nearly 20 years. She was 71 years old. Marcia Ann was born on December 23, 1945 in Logan, Utah to Joyce Rich Nelson and Roscoe Maughan Nelson, who on that day was still stationed in Okinawa, Japan after his service as a Marine Corps fighter pilot during World War II. Marcia Ann dearly loved her brothers Stephen R. Nelson, Richard R. Nelson, Scott M. Nelson, Douglas R. Nelson, and sister Claire Marie Painter. Marcia Ann came of age in Provo, Utah where she excelled academically, was a state debate champion, and graduated from Brigham Young High School in the Class of 1963. She attended Brigham Young University (BYU) and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English in 1968. She became a credentialed high school teacher and proponent of education throughout her life. It was at BYU that she met the love of her life and as she often said, "her most important gift," Robert C. "Bob" Ludlow. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year, having married in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on August 31, 1967. Marcia Ann will be remembered for living a life dedicated to the service of others. In addition to ongoing service to her church and community, she was a prolific writer of thoughtful notes and showed her love to neighbors and friends through homemade cinnamon rolls and pies. She never missed an opportunity to express her love because she was never satisfied with mere acquaintance — every dialysis nurse, hospital orderly or new face at church quickly became a close friend. She considered motherhood her highest calling and sacred duty. Marcia Ann helped all five of her sons attain the rank of Eagle Scout and her two daughters become accomplished musicians. She relished the time she spent with her grandchildren, hosting tea parties and reminding each of their great worth to her and to a loving God. Her faith in God was truly unshakable and she was a humble disciple of Jesus Christ with her whole soul. Marcia Ann approached the debilitating kidney disease that dominated the last two decades of her life with discipline, grace, and incredible strength. Despite two generous kidney donations, she was on dialysis for nearly 20 years. The family is incredibly grateful to the many doctors, nurses, technicians, and caregivers who loved and tirelessly attended to her for so many years. She is survived by her husband Robert C. Ludlow and their seven children: Diane Forsyth (Bruce), Robert N. Ludlow (Marianne), Thomas N. Ludlow (Heather), Nathaniel J. Ludlow (Shannon), Kathleen Sandford (Caleb), Andrew N. Ludlow, Matthew N. Ludlow (Monica). Bob & Marcia Ann have 26 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 9 at 11 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (731 El Vista Ave., Modesto, California). Friends may call at the church on Friday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. She will be interred at Lakewood Memorial Park. Memorial donations in Marcia Ann's name may be made to the Inherited Kidney Disease Research Fund, Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, PO Box 571021, Winston-Salem, N.C. 27157. [Modesto Bee]

Janet and Philip G. Brown

Class of 1963. Janet Lynne Peterson. 1963 BYH Senior Class Social Chair. Student Council, F.H.A. President, Pep Club, Seminary 4 years. BYU 1968. ~ ~ ~ ~ HER OBITUARY: PRICE, UTAH - We say a dear goodbye to Janet Lynne Peterson Brown, who passed gently on July 12, 2021 in her sleep as a result of her ongoing battle with breast cancer. She leaves behind a husband, Philip G. Brown; six children, Neena Mathews, Kari Bennett, Mike Brown, Helene Fry, Paul Brown, Steve Brown and their spouses; her five siblings, Erland Peterson, Susan Breinholt, Dolores (Chuck) Brown, Colleen Bennett and Sonja Richardson; 26 grandchildren - all of whom she loved dearly and with all her heart. Janet in turn was loved by all because of her sweet, giving and Christlike spirit and was renowned for her homemade bread and Norwegian pancakes. She lived to serve others and departed with concern for others’ wellbeing, including who will make Phil bread, or anything for that matter, when she’s gone. Janet lived a life full of adventures with family. She was born April 26, 1945 the second child of Dean and Lyle Peterson in Provo, Utah. She survived polio as a young girl through the support of loving and attentive parents. Because her father was part of a government agricultural program, they moved to Iran, where Janet was baptized. After living in Germany for a time, the family returned to Provo, Utah where Janet attended BY High, graduating in the Class of 1963, and she was voted homecoming queen. She then attended Brigham Young University. Janet served a mission in Norway for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and on her return, married Philip Brown in the Salt Lake temple. Janet worked as secretary to the General Relief Society Presidency while Phil finished school, and then together began their adventures when Phil was drafted and they began a family. They lived in Georgia, California, Kansas and Colorado before settling their little family in Price, Utah in 1976, where Phil built them a house and Janet made it a home. She lived and served in the loving 1st Ward and 7th Ward families, in the Price Stake, for over 45 years. They had their last two children and raised all six in Price. She loved, nurtured, taught and supported them as they grew into adulthood and married. Her family grew as grandchildren were born, whom she equally loved, taught, supported and to whom she fed her legendary Norwegian Pancakes. Phil and Janet served a couple’s mission to the Dallas Texas Mission from 2012-14 where Janet loved and served the people in east Texas. Most recently, Phil and Janet have served by working in the Manti temple, at the Price Home Storage Center, as well as holding callings in the ward. Family was everything to Janet, and she was everything to her family. We will miss her fiercely and remember her daily as we endeavor to carry on her legacy of love for family, Jesus Christ, friends, others in need, Norwegian pancakes and homemade bread. We will truly feel her loss.
