Her parents are Willis K. Spafford & Ann E. Stubbs Spafford. On September 4, 1917, Marie married Arnold Edgar Robison, Sr., BYH Class of 1913 (see his alumni profile). She participated in the Utah State Fair beauty pageant in October 1914. They had three children: a son, Arnold E. Robison Jr.; two daughters, Betty Jane Robison and Rosalie Robison. Dr. Arnold E. Robison died on March 23, 1941 at the age of 46, of a coronary occlusion. Marie Spafford Robison died on December 9, 1959 in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah. Her interment, Provo Cemetery, Provo, Utah.

Her parents were Andrew Steedman and Eliza Muir Strang Steedman. ~ ~ ~ ~ Crissie married twice: First, to Louis Leslie Roundy on June 7, 1916 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Louis was born on February 8, 1891 in Kanarraville, Iron County, Utah. His parents were Samuel "H" Roundy and Eugenia Elmira Taylor Roundy. Louis Roundy died on October 24, 1919 in Provo, Utah. His interment, Spanish Fork, Utah. ~ ~ Crissie Steedman Roundy second married Allen James Bassett on June 11, 1927 in Evanston, Wyoming. Crissie died on September 28, 1965 in Boise, Idaho. Her interment, Boise, Idaho.

University, Book 7, page 334. ~ ~ ~ ~ Bernice Stringham was born on March 26, 1895 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Henry Stringham and Fannie Janet Blair Stringham. She married George Duffin, who was born February 17, 1892 in Toquerville, Utah. George Duffin died on October 23, 1937, at age 45, in Richfield, Utah. He was accidentally shot while hunting in the Fishlake National Forest. Bernice Stringham Duffin died on January 22, 1984 at the age of 89. Her interment, Salt Lake City Cemetery, Utah.

Laura and Joseph Beckstrand

Class of 1914 ~ Honorary. Laura Swallow Beckstrand, age 103, died January 19, 2000 in Orem, Utah. She was born December 15, 1896, in Fillmore, Utah, to Charles and Isabel Swallow. Laura married Joseph Clifton Beckstrand October 3, 1917, in the Salt Lake Temple. Laura and Clifton lived in Meadow, Utah, where they farmed and raised their family. Laura finished the eighth grade in Meadow, then attended Brigham Young Academy in Provo, where she played the French horn in the school band. She remained a loyal BYU sports fan throughout her life. After her marriage she became a homemaker, skilled at gardening, quilting, handwork, and cooking. Laura was hard worker, mannerly and kind-hearted, who devoted her life and resources to the service of family and friends. She was active in the LDS Church, serving as ward and stake Relief Society president and in many other positions of service. She loved temple work, serving with Clifton as an ordinance worker in the Manti Temple for seven years. She faithfully attended the temple throughout her long life. She is survived by her children, Nelda (Alex) Wadley, Pleasant Grove; Thressa Knoell, Orem; Therald (Verla) Beckstrand, Orem; 14 grandchildren, 29 great-grand-children, 11 great great-grandchildren; two sisters, Elva Lindberg and Noreen Labrum; and a brother, Theron Swallow. She was preceded in death by her husband Clifton; daughters, Lavon and Rhea; eight brothers and sisters; and a grandson, James Clifton Beckstrand. Funeral services were held Monday, January 24, 2000 in Pleasant Grove. A graveside service was held in Meadow, Utah prior to burial in the Meadow Cemetery. His parents were Charles Clyde Whitlock Sr., and Annie Elizabeth Petersen Whitlock. Merrill married Bardella Nielsen [Gueska Bardella Nielsen] on May 10, 1916 in Manti, Utah. Bardella was also born in Mayfield, Utah in 1895. Their children included three sons: Don M. Whitlock, Lee C. Whitlock, Clair M. Whitlock; and one daughter, Marilyn Whitlock. Merrill Whitlock died November 21, 1970 in Provo, Utah. His interment, Mayfield, Sanpete County, Utah.

His parents were George Quayle Whitlock, born in Utah, and Matilda Whitlock [Matilda Victor Bundersson], born in Sweden. Royal married Lily Elvira Olsen Whitlock [sometimes Lillie], also born in 1894. One record says Lily was born in Mexico, others say Mayfield, Utah. Royal and Lily were married on June 2, 1915 in Manti, Utah. This family included the following children, all born in Utah: Aldous O. Whitlock, Alice Whitlock, Royal C. Whitlock, Genevive Whitlock, Glen Whitlock, and Beth Whitlock. Royal Whitlock died on July 18, 1977 in Salt Lake City, Utah. His interment, Murray, Salt Lake County, Utah.
