University, Book 9, page 478. ~ ~ ~ ~ Carl Davis Swenson was born August 3, 1901. Carl appears to have graduated from Brigham Young High School in the Class of 1919. He married Lura Tanner. Carl and Lura had three children: Her parents had three children: Claire Swenson Johnson (1924 - 2013); John Carl Swenson (1928 - 1998); and Robert T. Swenson (1929 - 1990). Carl Davis Swenson died on April 29, 1979.

His parents were John C. Swensen (Swenson), born February 4, 1869 [BYA High School 1888, BYA Collegiate 1900], married Margaret Davies (Davis) Swensen. John originally used the -SON spelling, but later in life he decided it would be better to use the -SEN spelling. John and Margaret had ten children; five of the children continued with the -SON spelling, but the other five changed and used the -SEN spelling. They had seven sons and three daughters as follows: ~ ~ 1. John Starr Swenson [BYH Class of 1917?], born March 27, 1900, died December 28, 1977. He married Marva Carter. ~ ~ 2. Carl Davis Swenson [BYH Class of 1919?], born August 3, 1901, died April 29, 1979. He married Lura Tanner. ~ ~ 3. Reed Knute Swenson [BYH Class of 1921], born February 16, 1903, died April 2, 1989. He married Ruth Freebairn. ~ ~ 4. Alice Swenson, born May 10, 1905, died in infancy. 5. Margaret Swensen [BYH Class of 1923], born May 29, 1906, died January 30, 1987. She married James L. Jacobs. ~ ~ 6. Francis McLean Swenson (Mac) [BYH Class of 1926?], born June 29, 1908, died August 22, 1963. He married Willa Sowards. ~ ~ 7. Louise Swensen [BYH Class of 1928?], born May 24, 1910, died October 5, 1992. She married Jay Tolman. ~ ~ 8. Joseph Cadwallader Swensen [BYH Class of 1931], born June 15, 1913, died May 9, 2005. He married Verna Harding. ~ ~ 9. Albert Donald Swensen [BYH Class of 1933], born May 28, 1915, died October 6, 2001. He married Jennie Romney. ~ ~ 10. Richard Davis Swensen [BYH Class of 1936], born July 7, 1919. He married Arleen Stowell.

Taylor, BYH Class of 1918; Alice Taylor (Nelson), BYH Class of 1919; Henry Dixon Taylor, Sr., BYH Class of 1921; Clarence D. Taylor; and Ruth Elaine Taylor (Kartchner). ~~~~OBITUARY: Alice Louise Taylor Nelson, age 95, died March 12, 2002 in Salt Lake City. She was born November 18, 1906 in Provo, Utah, the fifth child of Arthur Nichols Taylor and Maria Louise Dixon. She was known for her charitable service to friends and neighbors who were the recipients of homemade bread and cinnamon rolls. Family and friends cherish her water color and oil paintings. After graduation from Brigham Young High School in 1919, she attended Brigham Young University, graduating in 1929 with a BA in Art. During her student years she was a member of O.S. Social Unit, served as secretary-treasurer of the junior class and as student body secretary-historian. She married a classmate, ElRoy Nelson, August 14, 1935 in the Salt Lake Temple. She has resided in Troy, New York; Denver, Colorado; Salt Lake City, Provo and Riverton, Utah. She served in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in numerous teaching capacities including pioneering the guide patrol program in Primary. Service in the Yale Ward, Salt Lake City, included Primary president and Relief Society president. For several years she volunteered at the Primary Children's Hospital in the pre-school for blind children. She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and the Classics Club. She is survived by a brother and sister, Clarence Taylor and Ruth Kartchner, of Provo and sister-in-law, Ethelyn Taylor, of Salt Lake City; children, Arthur T. (Bonnie) Nelson, John C. (Mary Ann) Nelson, Christina L. (Ron) Preston, Henry A. (Kristy) Nelson, James N. (Connie) Nelson; 22 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. A funeral service was Saturday, March 16, 2002 in Sandy, Utah. Interment, Provo City Cemetery. [Deseret News, Thursday, March 14, 2002]

University, Book 10, page 50. ~ ~ ~ ~ HER OBITUARY: Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Hazel Twede Baird, age 92, of West Mountain died peacefully at her son Fred's home in Provo on Sunday, September 5, 1993. Hazel was born September 13, 1900 at Mapleton, Utah, the only child of Frederick Gideon and Rebecca Allan Twede. While still a young girl, the family moved to West Mountain (Payson), where she resided for most of her life. She attended schools in Payson and later on graduated from Brigham Young High School in 1919. She met her future husband, Abner Harley Baird, at this time and their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on May 11, 1921. Hazel and Abner served a mission together in the Eastern States from 1955-57. Later they worked in the Provo LDS Temple. Her life was filled with service to her church. Her callings included ward Relief Society president; stake Primary president; and various teaching positions. She also served in the community. A highlight of her life was giving the traditional Christmas story, re-telling it literally hundreds of times throughout the state. She wrote the history of West Mountain, updating it recently for area residents. She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and taught the monthly lesson most recently. She is survived by two sons, two daughters and their spouses, Frederick T. and Sarah Baird, Provo; Alan and Priscilla Baird, Lexington, South Carolina; Rachel and David McOmber, Orem; Ruth and Mark Bartholomew of American Fork; daughter-in-law, Lolita T. Baird of Provo. She was preceded in death by her oldest son, Robert A. Baird, and her husband, Abner, who died October 14, 1989. Services were held Thursday, September 9, 1993, West Mountain/Payson. Interment, Orem City Cemetery. [Deseret News, Tuesday, September 7, 1993]
