MILLIMETER SIZES

The millimeter sizes presented below are very close to actual sizes on monitor screens set at 800 x 640 dpi.

1. For a more precise measure of relative millimeter sizes, Clients should review the millimeter to inch conversion table below or refer a millimeter gauge or meter stick.

2. An increase in millimeter width dramatically increases the gram weight of any style of gold jewelry (e.g. chain and bangles) and therefore has a correspondingly significant impact on the item's price.

3. The thumbnail or enlarged pictures presented throughout this WebSite are not representative of actual sizes, and are shown for detail and selection purposes only.

4. Clients must refer to the item's Size, Weight, & Price Chart for an accurate determination of an item's actual width or gauge.

5.  Millimeter or inch sizes for items of variable dimensions indicate the width or height of the item at its widest or highest point.

GRAM WEIGHTS

GRAM WEIGHTS.  24k, 18k, 10k, or 14 karat gold is weighed in grams, pennyweights (1 dwt = 1.5552 grams), and troy ounces (31.1033 grams, or 20.0 dwt.) not Avoirdupois ounces (28.3495 grams).  While the karat fineness is always well marked, the buyer is often left in the dark as to the jewelry item's actual gram weight.  While it may be possible for someone to determine which item is heavier by holding it, it is impossible to determine with any degree of accuracy, the item's weight in grams by "feel."  For accurately determining jewelry weights, there is no substitute for actually weighing the item on a gram scale (note: a postage scale will not be accurate enough).  The chart below gives the approximate weights, thicknesses, and diameters of common United States coins that may be used as a reference when trying to gain a better understanding of how large something is or how much it weights
