The following istructions are provided as an online reference to the patients of the Elison Dental Center.
|
|
|
|
- DO NOT SMOKE FOR 48 HOURS.
- Keep pressure in the form of gauze on the extraction site for at least 3 hours.
- Take medication as noted on your prescription(s).
- Avoid sucking through a straw and vigorous rinsing for 48 hours.
- Apply an ice pack to your cheek for 15-20 minutes every hour to help with swelling.
- Eat soft food and avoid small vegetables and rice for the next couple of days.

Crown Preparation/Seating
|
|
- Be careful not to bite your cheek or tongue while you are numb.
- The tooth may be sensitive to hot or cold foods for a couple of days; take Motrin as directed on the bottle to relieve pain.
- Do not eat anything hard or sticky with the temporary crown.
- An appointment will be scheduled to place the permanent crown in about 2 weeks.

- Do not eat anything hard such as nuts or popcorn until a permanent filling and crown are placed.
- Apply an ice pack to your cheek for 15-20 minutes every hour to help with swelling.
- An appointment will be scheduled to place a permanent filling and crown in about a week.
