After Care
The following istructions are provided as an online reference to the patients of the Elison Dental Center.

Extraction
  1. DO NOT SMOKE FOR 48 HOURS.
  2. Keep pressure in the form of gauze on the extraction site for at least 3 hours.
  3. Take medication as noted on your prescription(s).
  4. Avoid sucking through a straw and vigorous rinsing for 48 hours.
  5. Apply an ice pack to your cheek for 15-20 minutes every hour to help with swelling.
  6. Eat soft food and avoid small vegetables and rice for the next couple of days.
Crown Preparation/Seating
  1. Be careful not to bite your cheek or tongue while you are numb.
  2. The tooth may be sensitive to hot or cold foods for a couple of days; take Motrin as directed on the bottle to relieve pain.
  3. Do not eat anything hard or sticky with the temporary crown.
  4. An appointment will be scheduled to place the permanent crown in about 2 weeks.
Root Canals
  1. Take medication as noted on your prescription(s).
  2. Be careful not to bite your cheek or tongue while you are numb.
  3. Do not eat anything hard such as nuts or popcorn until a permanent filling and crown are placed.
  4. Apply an ice pack to your cheek for 15-20 minutes every hour to help with swelling.
  5. An appointment will be scheduled to place a permanent filling and crown in about a week.
After Care Concerns
